I would agree with you in part but we diverge some at the end.

Let's say Knicks have a team of Brunson, RJ, Spida, Randle. I'd want Brunson and maybe Spida to initiate offense but have the main workhorses for the team to end up with RJ, Randle. For me, RJ and Randle have been default primary guys (ball handlers and initiators) for the lack of better options (and for growth IMHO) but they are poor initiators and managers of team play.

When playoffs come, the outlet workhorse would switch to a Spida type as RJ/Randle become backups in the workhorse mode of players.

Spida would be your closer too at every step.

For a good part of the year, Knicks had a top 6(?) Defensive Efficiency ranked team with Mitch, Randle, RJ, Fournier, Burks but we think it'll take a dramatic step back if it's Mitch, Randle, RJ, Spida, Brunson starting?

Defense will take major hit switching from Fournier/Burks to Brunson/Spida? A hit that outweighs the Offensive gains that Brunson/Spida obviously will bring?

LOL, when you put it that way, it's kinda hard to think it won't be worth that tradeoff. We have to assume our def eff was due in part to the teaching of Thibs, and he's still in the house. No point in being efficient defensively and unable to score buckets.

And before there are any numb-nuts that will drone on about Thibs not being able to coach up the offense, his team had an Offensive Efficiency with Minny in 2017-18 (Kat, Wiggins, Butler, Taj, Jeff Teague) that pretty much matched that of the team built around Steph, Klay, KD, Green. It was top 4 in the league behind only Houston, Raps, GS. https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced/?sort=OFF_RATING&dir=-1&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

Only question is whether Randle clogs the floor when he sets up at the top of the block. Doesn’t seem to move to the corner very often.

You are correct. Fournier and RJ were the corner guys, give or take.

Not for nothing, but Randle got to up his shooting or he is not long for anything.

Agree. After the post on Toppin's drives, I was looking at Randle's drive highlights and he showed some skill putting the ball on the floor. My biggest issue with Randle is the inefficient shots from the high post. Just seems lazy and doesn't really put pressure on the defense. The thing I liked about Toppin (despite his 30% from 3 being an underperformance from his college stats) is his placement in the corner. It pulls a big man out of the paint. Mitchell tends to position himself in top of the key before initiating his offense which puts him pretty much right into a double team. Randle will need to move a bit more without the ball to account for this. I think if he followed a bit of Dray Green's offense style, he would be better suited to a Brunson/Mitchell backcourt.

We'd have to stagger the lineups to make this work defensively but its a better fit. Bojan's consistent shooting offers a serious threat.

Brunson
Mitchell
Barrett
Bojan
Robinson

Rose
IQ
Grimes
Obi
Hart

Mcbride
Reddish

Its somewhat reassuring that they're still talking. If the FO was going to give away the store for DM, they probably would have done it by now.

If Durant winds up in Miami. The Heat build another superteam. The Knicks could try to build a team to compete with that squad. Or stick with the youth movement.

Now I just hope we can keep most of our young core. If we give up picks and young core it will hurt.

Was gonna post that. The 'haul of picks' line worries me.

Hopefully my post in the other D-Mitch thread, saying it would never happened caused both parties to look in the mirror and decide to strike a deal- notice this happened minutes after I posted 😂

If it doesn happen, likely we caved in completely and will post via Woj, just like the Twolves did, that we were "ecstatic" we managed to hold on to McBride 😂

I hope not. He's very good, but I dont want to see the Knicks give up the farm for him. And I dont want to hear the PR campaign to sell a bad deal.

We havent heard any legit confirmation..yet. Dont know what the deal is (good, bad, somewhere in between) so we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope he's walking it back. Trading a haul for Mitchell makes absolutely no sense given our current roster and situation.
