Not a surprise. Not the floor general we deserve it need. But he's better than Elfrid.

guy was a rookie of the year candidate and made all rookie teams RJ didn't

My guess: he's the Miami version of Alonzo Trier. He's an undersized two and not good enough facilitator to be a pg. just stunned though that they'll get nothing for him, meaning other teams' interest was tepid at best

His tunnel vision isn't Trier level, but it isn't good. Reports said it was improving tho.

miami is weird. one year Nunn is the latest gem then he's gone for nothing. One year Herro is "how did he slip to where he did in the draft" the next they're saying he's not paying enough attention to his craft etc. We'll find out soon enough if they've improved.

At the bare minimum, we know he can attack the rim and shoot the 3. For all the talk of Elfrid being a floor general, he was awful at seeing the floor. If Nunn, at the bare minimum, can kick out to the three and pass that ball ahead to RJ consistently on the fastbreak, he'd be a huge upgrade over Elfrid. That said, I'm not crazy about him. But the Knicks are desperate for a PG and desperate times call for desperate measures.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

Carmelo Anthony to the Lakers.

I would've loved to have him because these days he creates for an awesome role playing role player.

I think Melo finally gets his well deserved NBA ring this year. Because the Lakers @ full strength led by a trio of Westbrook/LeBron/A.D + role players is going to be pretty tough to eliminate.

Melo and LeBron came into the league together, won Olympic gold medals together and will now retire together; I'm happy for Melo. One of my favorite Knicks of All-Time behind Ewing.

good on the lakers

They’ve filled out their roster well- should be interesting, could be a disaster- hope they beat the nets if that’s what it comes down to

Patty Mills 2 years 12MM for the Nets is a tremendous deal.

Malik Monk to the the Lakers

Robin Lopez to ORL for 5MM.

The bargain deals were out there.

Dennis Schroder is going to be availed at a bargain. Reggie Jackson, etc.

Plenty of guys always available at nice prices.

If we took a step back this year and were able to develop our young guys more I still like that approach other than getting our asses kicked by the Nets.

What you guys think of this FA season for Spurs? They had second most free cap space after us

They have never been a destination for FA , that's why their best rosters were built organic or through trades.

Yuck. Media won't hate on them though because they are the Spurs. Only the Knicks.

Unfortunately for Chicago they had a poor draft (only one 2nd round pick) but the Bulls really just improved their team throughout Free Agency by landing both of Lonzo Ball @ PG and an All-Star DeMar DeRozan on the wing.

They were 31-41 last year and 2021 they should contend for a playoff spot.

Wow Bulls really went all in for DeRozan. Lots of big moves there but are they really better than a 6 seed?

Yay, Bagely reporting:

Our deals mostly are non-guaranteed in the third year, so really 2 year deals, if needed!

Other cap notes: Derrick Rose’s deal with the Knicks is expected to be via the Early Bird exception, sources confirm. So the Knicks should have roughly $8 million in cap space left over following the deals agreed upon with Rose, Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks and Evan Fournier.

All of the contracts agreed to on Monday were not fully guaranteed in the final season, SNY has learned (immediately after the Burks deal was agreed upon, SNY reported that it would be fully guaranteed. We regret the error).

So the Knicks will have flexibility on the Noel, Rose and Burks deals entering the 2023-24 season. Fournier has a team option in the fourth year of his deal. New York has structured deals with options on the end throughout Scott Perry’s tenure as GM (as a point of comparison, the final year on Kelly Olynyk’s deal with Detroit is a team option, sources confirmed).

With regard to the Knicks’ remaining cap space, New York remained active in pursuit of a guard on Tuesday, per SNY sources.

Some guards remaining on the market include Dennis Schroder, Kendrick Nunn and Reggie Jackson.

All have been under consideration by New York as potential options if the club missed out on top point guards on the market. Newsday earlier reported that Rose’s deal is likely to be via the Early Bird exception.

This is becoming les and less of a reality in the NBA, unless you talk about destination for FA role players.

The truth is that most stars move through trades and after that, role players make their move there.

all true. i also thought Elfrid's defense was vastly overrated. He was decent on ball, occasionally crafty and could get a rebound. But he was constantly losing his man off ball.

i'm still hoping for much better than Nunn as a pg
