Not sure why some here feel a need to point out all of the ills that minorities who are living in poverty are suffering from. It is understood. I was born and raised in the projects in the Bronx; was an orphan by the age of 13, losing one of parents to drugs. There isn't a statistic or person on this board that can tell me what its like living in projects or living in high crime areas. I'm living and breathing proof. I'm currently a teacher (for 12 yrs) in the inner-city and I'm still there and I deal face to face with what some of you are googling and posting in this thread. I'm in the community everyday. I have a program that I started at my old school called 'boys in action'. I wrote and published a fictional book last year for young adults that deal with problems teens face in the projects. I am definitely doing my part.

I say that to say this, most of these posts are distracting from the main point at hand that needs to be addressed.... "Black lives matter simply refers to the notion that there's a specific vulnerability for blacks that need to be addressed” Barak Obama. When someone says black lives matter, it doesn't mean that white lives do not matter. It doesn't mean that blue lives do not matter...Black people are asking for fair treatment with police and in the justice system. That's the issue that needs to be addressed....

The point of my posts is to speak freely on why its probable that police may have a stricter eye towards African Americans than other races. If we dont speak freely and honestly than change never happens. I only wrote on this thread because happened to watch a young African American girl say that white people were causing modern day lynching. I take serious offense to that and that prompted me to post here. Its incredulous that white people--even by these two cop killers--that white people are causing modern day violence against African Americans--its blasphemy and just incredibly wrong. There is some serious hatred embedded there---seems similar to the same embedded hate of Radical Islam.

Thats like saying BRIGGS 70% of your race was wiped out in World war 2--why dont you hold modern day Germans accountable? Because its insane and wrong--it happened a long time ago and I wasnt even born. I saw tattoos on my grandpas arm from being in a concentration camp--if he didnt get away--Im not even here. So for this kid raping and blaming it on 400 years of slavery--its just out of this world --crazy wrong.

Can you step into the shoes of a black man who just so happens to "Fit the Description" and see why they may have a stricter eye towards the police?

I dont see Bill Cosby in jail? I think that if you turn a blind eye at 3.7X more likely or make excuse about it--that you should just turn a blind eye at everything. Its common sense man

Just look at what that kid from Vanderbilt said to that young woman---this is for 400 years of slavery bitch and then pissed on her face. Just think about that for a few moments. This is a guy who had PRIVILEGE to get to go to college for FREE

He deservingly got 15 years in jail for his actions...Brook Turner got 6 months, how do you explain that other than privilege???

holfresh its appalling to everyone that kid got 6 months. But that doesnt affect 3.7X more times likely to commit violent crime. You know you have to look at root cause--cause and effect.

Its roughly 3.7 times more likely that an African American will commit rape than a white American. Like I said--you can look to the facts of crime in the US to get an understanding on why police might be more jumpy with AA(although this is not a proven fact) It seems like rape is a black privilege

The vast majority of rapes and sexual assaults are done by someone known to the survivor (in the case of children, usually a family member or a friend of the family), so I find your stat to be bull**** (I work supporting survivors)

Uptown--what does it mean to step in the shoes of a black man? So being black gives you the right of rape? So why arent cops circling out Asians? Because African American men are causing violent crime at a disproportional rate. NOTHING else matters and everything else is excuse. Why is there a hood anyway? Is it designated for Black Americans to live there? The hood is an excuse.

You asked what white privilege looked like and you are being shown...And of course 3.7X is appalling, but you don't even think to ask how they got there??...Whats happening or has been happening to cause this group to show these disgusting actions to those rate???..I actually thought this country was ready to begin a dialogue, but ignorance still abound...People are retreating to the predictable corners...It's sad, really sad...

White collar crime, which I would think is "white" in more ways than the name implies, is under reported, or at least its impact is.

This is also the case with understanding the negative impact many profit based decisions of companies have on the U.S. economy.

Propaganda about what--thats the truth. Black men committed 3.7 more rapes per white male in the last ten years. Thats the FBI talking not bRIGGS. You dont see anything wrong with black men raping whites 150k X and white men raping black women zero? Is this a privilege?

If the wealthiest Americans were taxed at Eisenhower-era rates, and the funds went to the inner-city pre K and grade schools, the problems the black community faces would be greatly reduced. Money talks. And by wealthiest Americans I include professional athletes. "Foundations" don't quite cut it and on the present sociology-political climate come across as a dodge. For instance, Melo would still have 50 million and A-Roid 100 million. Black and white it doesn't matter-- all should be forced to help their fellow Americans, especially the descendants of slaves. Again I ask, how much does any one person need to live well and provide for their children and grandchildren? Melo, CP3, Wade, LBJ thanks for the heartfelt ESPY speeches, but you need to shut up and pony up.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Much respect to you for overcoming those hurdles. The criminal system should be the focal point but inflammatory talk by some shifted the conversation and others like myself here take exception to the blame whitey for all our problems and sins dialogue. The experiences that I have had is that white people especially the younger generation do care about social injustices and progress on that front has occured despite many travesties. I also believe as many black conservatives and intellectuals that black people as a whole need to exert personal responsibility to themselves and each other and address flaws rather than simply assign blame to others at every turn

Its very true about the younger generation.....I'm more interested in finding solutions at this point rather than ranking on each others race.

Wow! This post is very ignorant and a bit insulting. I had a large group discussion about these very topics with my 8th graders and I assure you, the conversation and responses were far more intelligent and coherent than your above post.. Did you really say being black gives me the right to rape? Wow! SMH...
