I love how the media have such a boner for the Nets, they all praised that trade last year in which they gave up all their picks for 2 past it players and went way over the cap. The kind of stuff we used to get blasted for (and rightly so). What do they have to show for it? KG is no longer effective and Pierce has just gone for nothing.

Pierce and Garnett were Starphuchs and its not the Media that got the boner, they are the "Fluffer"!!!

Fans lop that stuff up and see the names and Media tells you to be excited, and then tells you they are over the hill!!!
Letting Pierce go was financial.
As far as the draft picks go, they have made good use of getting younger. The Russian they got from Cleveland was a 19th First rounder and only 20 years old. The other kid they are signing with the MLE is a second round pick who would be a decent first rounder from what I have read. Thats like getting Two as far as infused talent and getting younger. Plumlee was a much better pick given his position. This takes the sting of what they lost.

Mirza really came on last year and at 6-8 a better value than pierce at this point.

The kidd hiring was not BIlly Kings fault and was a disaster!!

With Jack as backup and (the big "IF) Deron and BroPez returning from surgery in good form this Nets Team could be better than last years addition even with Blatch (Likely) and Pierce gone.

Was a stupid trade and not the route I'd go and I get why the Nets did it but I don't think the loss of the picks is that toxic.
Smack, maybe its the "Boner" YOU get when the Nets do something you deem stupid?

PJ Carlisemo just said on ESPN that Chris Bosh was "a great signing"

Watch the contrast between the media's reaction to Bosh's contract and Melo's over the next few weeks.

I'm not going to lie, watching the Nets mess up is one of my simple pleasures in life Mainly because they seemed to get such an easy ride by the media for the past few years.

Their pick situation is a disaster, one that really sets a franchise back for years (as we know only too well!)

Washington is going to need to keep Pierce to 28 minutes a game but they will be a very intriguing team.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I agree about enjoying watching them make mistakes. Especially when Thorn put on a gm clinic there for so many years. I do think the Nets stashed a few guys in Europe and I think they made great choices with the second round picks they purchased this year. The purging of their team of Pierce, Livinston, Blatche, and the Jack trade might signal a change in philosophy. I wonder how long the Russian keeps the team.

I haven't watched ESPN but I wouldn't be surprised if it already started.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Miami had to sign bosh. I think they were bound to Wade and no way he can carry the load anymore.

It was a great signing in contrast to losing him for nothing. His value was higher to miami. From finals participant to cellar dweller would kill revenue.

Anybody know if they got their own picks next two years?

If they can Deng in they will still be a playoff team.

Nets, Sneaky they got yoothier with BogoWhatever and the 20 year old russian kid.

I prefer the a strong rivalry, not one stock in mediocrity!!!

Ironically the Cavs have the Heats first round pick this season, though it is top ten protected.

Lakers did really well on the Lin trade. They get Lin, future 1st round pick and 2015 2nd round pick. They give the Rockets the rights to Sergei Lishchuk. Kupchak with a great move. They preserve cap flexibility for next year as well with Lin's ending contract. This is blowing up on Morey's face since Melo and Bosh went back to their respective teams. Now they might also lose Parsons. I guess Reezy is a good consolation prize.

Well, at least Morey eventually paid a price for stealing Lin from us, and damning us to Felton!

Deng to heat, 2yrs $20mil. Obviously he must have some sort of under the counter deal with Riley, because he rejected a 3yr $30mil deal with the bulls which is why he got traded to the Cavs.

Also, they seem to be getting ready to be players in for Durant,

Parsons to Dallas. Wow. Houston better hope Ariza wasn't on a contract mission. The defense will be needed though. I would love to see Portland vs Houston again. Although right now Houston doesn't have a bench at all.

Dont know what houston was thinking. They could have had him on the roster this year for peanuts.

I know. That might be Worse than Grunny/Dolan not matching Lin's contract.

Houston trying to re-work a S&T. What do the Mavs gain by doing an S&T. Would Houston actually give up a 2nd rd pick or the right to one of their many Euro's just to gain a TPE?

Would Houston be interested in JR? They have nothing coming off the bench right now and I think he would welcome the way Houston does things offensively. A part of me thinks Jr will have a breackout year considering this is a potential contract year. He agent has to be telling him look around the league JR. If you have a great season next year you will get paid. Marvin freaking williams just go more money than you.

Also, I keep bringing him up but the Stephenson market is really getting small. I personally wouldn't mind if Phil gave up some assets Shump/Thjr if it meant they could move an Expiring to make room for Stephenson. I mean Lance is basically a better combination of both anyway. Earlier, I would have said that a big 2yr deal would have been a smart way to go but with the possible exploding cap that may come a 4 yr deal may be a smarter move. I do worry about him being back in Ny.

Quite a quite a change in fortune for a team which only a day or two ago expected to sign Bosh and then bring back Parsons.

Lost Bosh, who seemed to be all but signed to one of his home state teams.

Lost Parsons- a nice complimentary player, for nothing

Had to give up a #1 to get out of that foolish Lin contract

Got Ariza, who did well with the Wizards, but who now has to find a way to thrive in Houston's Harden heavy offense.

I think he overestimated his market. He just isn't that good and I think his stock went down after a an underwhelming half season in Cleveland.
