Lebron James is reading James Harden's stats aloud to Wade in amazement in the lockerroom after the game. This tells me all I need to know about mentally where they were with us tonight.

The Heat are front runners. If you put up a legit fight and make it hard on them you have a chance. If you relax even for a minute they'll run over you. Trust me they weren't just letting the Knicks beat them. The Knicks D was legit. Did you see our PG's fighting over picks and blowing up all their offensive attacks? They wanted to do what they do to everyone, but our entire team defended hard and made them take shots they didn't want to take.

No we won't beat the Heat by double digits every time but this was a legit win. Rarely does any team come into the Garden and not try hard to win. They all love the stage.

the heat don't respect us, the seemed somewhere else last night..... knicks won.. yea.. but hey, they beat boston first game of the season last year too...

They were talking about Melo today and I believe they said he hadn't been this thin since 'Cuse. Came in on the conversation on the Fan late so I am not positive that was what they said but Melo looked great. Pining away for a guy that is injury prone, missed a game already and went 3-17 tonight in a loss doesn't make sense to me. Pining away for a guy that if healthy is the 4th or 5th best player on a team that might not make the playoffs is foolish.

thanks, this article pretty much backs up what I said.... they played like they didn't want to be there.. no excuse for the heat, but that certainly seemed to be the case.. mentally they were not in the game..

I was excited for this team last year too, always am - even when my head tells me otherwise, but you MUST have seen a difference between the Boston Christmas game and last night. There's obviously tweaking to be done, but we won this game soundly over the defending champs, with the keys to the win being defense and ball movement from smart players and proven winners. How is that not refreshing? Couldn't have asked for a better opening night.

tkf, I know this is not the team you would have put together, but tell me you at least enjoyed last nights win.

I actually watched more of the rockets game vs the hawks... knicks are still boring to watch.. sorry.... one win vs the heat is no longer the standard.. sustained winning is what we should be looking for.. I want to see us come out and wax the sixers... playing a sloppy game vs the sixers will be taking 10 steps backwards.. we got a bit fortunate that other guys hit shots. but watching carmelo shoot 10-28 was not fun..

The thing is, he used to be a great poster- I used to really value his analysis of games and players. All those years of exposure to Dolan, have taken their toll. He's now become one of those posters who seem to get upset and angry when the Knicks do well, and are over joyed when they do badly because it proves them right. And that's fair enough, but I don't know why you post in a Knicks FAN board if you just want them to lose to prove you right- kind of the wrong audience. And don't mock or laugh at people like Nixluva for being happy that their team has done well.

Yet despite TKF trying to convince himself he likes the Nuggets, or that he likes the Rockets, he still follows the Knicks and makes posts about them. I'll be honest, whenever I read his posts now I just think of the words of that man in 'Funny People': "Beneath anger there is hurt, beneath hurt there is love". Maybe he secretly loves Melo too!

smack I follow the knicks because I am a knick fan.. I don't like this current team, or carmelo or the owner. hence the anger...... I know in a few years carmelo will be gone, I have hope that dolan one day disappears.. until then I can find joy in following other teams. don't kid yourself, I don't have to convince myself of liking the nuggets or rockets.. I do... I am a NBA fan first and when the team you follow craps on you constantly , it makes it easier to follow other teams as well... I enjoy watching the rockets and nuggets, and oh, if you think that posting on a knick forum is proof that I love the knicks, well guess what... go over to the rockets site.. clutch city and guess what user name you will see there?

holla back!

I know you're a big Knicks fan and that's why it bothers you so much having Dolan as an owner, and yep you can follow as many teams as you like. I guess I think maybe you go a bit too far when you try and put a dampener on things when some guys are happy that their team has done well. Yeah things aren't always going to go great but, man, let people be happy once in a while! it's like me going over to the Rockets board and posting negative stuff even when they've just won.

I get why you don't like melo, but I like a lot of the players on the team (Amar'e, Felton, Camby, KT, Tyson, etc) so for me it's an easy group to route for.

(oh and by the way the Nuggets stunk a bit in their first few games, thought they'd hit the ground running- what's going on?)

you have a point smack and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade(although I do think the level of homerism on here sometimes goes overboard as well, especially knocking former players in order to vindicate the knicks moves)... I also like amare, camby and Kt.. but this team was built around a guy I don't like or trust...

as far as the nuggets, tough schedule to start and Karl has to get his lineups set.. It would also help if iggy picks up his play and gallo hit some damn shots.. this year he is on notice with me, I want to see some consistency he is getting less rope from me this year... the nuggs lost a tough game last night vs the heat in miami, but they scored 116 points and they are capable of that often and as long as they play uptempo, I see 45 wins...

Yeah, it was weird seeing them only score 75 the previous game. While you've got Gallo on notice, I've got Wilson Chandler- thought he'd be a really good player by this point in his career when we traded him, but he seems to be permanently injured. Hope he gets healthy and back to playing the way he's capable of, but with the numbers crunch in Denver, I don't know if he's going to get the chance. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.
