![]() I just watched District 9 Last nite and was really blown away by it. I thought the interview and documentry aspect of it made for a very real senario not often found in Sci Fi.
I found much of it very interesting and thought provoking beyond most movies of this type. The ship hovering above was a "dark cloud". So many references in this movie! Excellent! I hope they have a "District 10" planned. Maybe Wikus becomes the new Mandella? Ship returns to rescue? Why did they come in the first place? What about the smart ones vs. the worker ones? Great sound track moment was when the big ship woke up Avatar was a big movie and visually stunning. I liked it and would rent the DVD. I was a bit long. 3d was cool. I guess we can all look forward to the Broadway production of "Avatar" and eventually "Avatar on Ice!". The American Indian believes in harmany with the earth. It is their faith but science does not substantiate this. IN the movie, that planet and those trees were hard wired together and that species fed off it. Its sci-fi so they can go anyway they want to with the story. Given their ability to wage war, had rallying calls, and other skills its apparent they might conflict with other tribes. Funny thing was they had horses yet lived in the trees in the rain forest? Only thing that bothered me was when Jake got left at night and they left proclaiming him as not able to servive why did they not immeadiatly wake him up? Just thinking. |

![]() I saw Avatar the other day and it absolutely blew me away. Im liked DIstrict 9 a lot, but not like this. I am definitely going to go see it in 3d while I still can.
I have to side with TMS on this one as well. I felt that this movie was more so directed towards humanity. Making selfish and greedy decisions with regard to nothing. Judging a race or species of animal or some kind of human population without getting to know them or learning or thinking twice. The lesson of how powerful just a select few people can be or the persist. The appreciation for Nature. This whole movie I felt was incredible. Didnt think it was a direct hit to our military or the Bush administration at all. “Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do NOT do that thing.”- Dwight Schrute

![]() Avatar was classic good vs. evil and the Blue tails were nothing more than low tech natives not depicted in any reality. They don't get ill, they never run up and down 3,000 foot branches and never slip and fall, they don't eat, don't have houses, don't have to prep food or hunt, there were no schools, none seemed pregnant, didn't have babies, didn't have to farm, or tend to the horses who must fend for them selves as they lived in that giant tree, and all the nasty things in the jungle does not bother them, nor the blue tails if they are in the tree. It was a fantasy story with Geo. Bush, no communist overtones, and no democracy. |

![]() actually they did have a house, they lived inside that huge tree, & they did hunt (remember that scene where Neytiri & Jake killed that alien buck?)... they had schools too, remember the backstory about them learning English from the human scientist expeditions, & there were little children aliens so obviously they had babies.

![]() Yeah. These were obviously fantasy creatures/ blue people, but they had their needs. Just bc they didnt show them eating doesnt mean they dont eat. They did however, show them die, which is a part of life.
