![]() Hughes mentions here that he wouldn't be opposed to being a reliever. My guess is that he said that because he does prefer being a reliever on the Yankees over going back to the minors. I'd rather let him try the long relief role also. It's an important role, especially since Wang is a question mark and Joba's only averaging a little over 5 innings per game.

He hasn't been great but he has battled- out of the pen he'll probably have better velocity and focus on his top 2-3 pitches. The one thing he has working against him is that the current "long" relievers have done a great job- Aceves and Tomko. When Wang comes back they will likely send down one of Aceves, Tomko or Hughes. Veras should be the guy they move, but I have a feeling they won't. |
