Yanks break it open in the 7th and take a 9-1 lead. Teixiera with a moon jack. Nice job giving CC some support after he dominated a close game for much of the night

They both were terrible, but Edwar has options, so that was the easier move to make for right now.

That's too bad.. I'm a big edwar fan - he worked his ass off to get back to the majors after being cut the Angels a few years ago. I hope he gets himself straightened out.

He needs major work on his control. He can't throw the change and have it be effective if he can't locate his fastball and throw it for strikes.

sending Edwar down was the right move for now... Veras should only be used in mopup duty until he shows he can be trusted again to throw strikes.

another sparkling pitching performance by CC & ARod & Teix are bombing away... this team is on a roll... 7th straight.

love the swag of this team. arod's return has helped everybody. thank god its not april with CC, everybody ragging on that guy b/c he has a bad april every yr was semi-ridiculous.

Hughes mentions here that he wouldn't be opposed to being a reliever. My guess is that he said that because he does prefer being a reliever on the Yankees over going back to the minors. I'd rather let him try the long relief role also. It's an important role, especially since Wang is a question mark and Joba's only averaging a little over 5 innings per game.

I think keeping him in the majors for now is the right idea. I think giving him some more innings up here will build his confidence. He hasn't been great but he has battled- out of the pen he'll probably have better velocity and focus on his top 2-3 pitches. The one thing he has working against him is that the current "long" relievers have done a great job- Aceves and Tomko. When Wang comes back they will likely send down one of Aceves, Tomko or Hughes. Veras should be the guy they move, but I have a feeling they won't.

86 runs or something like that in the 7th inning for the yankees this year. who said they dont have heart and cant get back into games late? now that arod is back, you see how texiera is more comfortable (4 hr's and 10 rbi's in last 4 games). the yanks are BADASS w 7 in a row now....lets keep the momentum going...

If Nady comes back, Swisher might have to be the odd man out. Damon is hitting too well and Melky and Gardner are both playing much better than him. I'm not huge on Matsui right now either to be honest. He just seems to be deteriorating right in front of our eyes.

Would anybody be dissapointed if when all is said and done for THIS SEASON, our outfield is Nady at right, Gardner at Center, Melky at left, Damon at the DH? Gardner isn't a good hitter yet, but his speed is REALLY something else.

Long term, all 3 guys competing for that CF spot just get clumped in the outfield together. Gardner, Jackson, Melky?

allanfan, echoing those sentiments, i like damon at DH the best. the guy's an atrocious fielder, its funny watching him try to play and then his throws from the outfield literally look like little leaguers, but the guy can still rake. we'll see how it pans out.

The problem is that Damon, Posada, and Matsui all need to be full-time DHs

That's a pretty good fielding but pretty poor hitting outfield. Melky's going to have to hit well for the full season before I'd consider him a long-term solution. I'd like to see Gardner get his #s up a lot before I consider him more than a 4th outfielder/defensive replacement/pinch runner. 4th OF/def rep/pr is still a very important role though--I don't mean that as a knock on him. Career-wise nady is basically an ordinary player who doesn't do anything great or poorly, even though he had an outstanding first half of last season. OI wouldn't be FURIOUS if that was our outfield but I'd definitely want to aim higher.

Also, this career year/contract year Damon is having reminds me a lot of Posada a few years ago when he magically at an old age had an amazing season and then got a huge contract and hasn't produced close to that level on a consistent basis again.

Believe it or not, I've heard rumblings that the Tigers are possibly looking into cutting Magglio Ordonez because of his contract...
