I'll say this again, I'm so happy for those younger fans who are now experiencing these type of moments for the first time! We all forget at times just how bad we were for the better part of two decades! And it's these type of games and moments that you will always remember as a fan!
I am so proud of these guys! Nobody has given us a chance in this series and I get it. And I think most fans thought this game was over when we got down 20. Celtics were 58-0 in games when they led by 16 or more and we only had like a 2.5% chance of winning this game at that point. But these guys battled and pulled off one of the biggest comeback wins in NYK history! Not even sure who get's the game ball cause there were so many guys who stepped up!
But I'm going to give it to Mikal! Didn't shoot it well all game but made one of the biggest shots of the game with that corner 3 in OT and had two insane clutch steals including Zioning Brown and not even allowing him to get a shot off! Say what you want about his style of play and how many picks we gave up for him but Mikal has really stepped up the last two games! We don't beat the Pistons in game six without him and don't win last night either. So happy for him and proud for stepping up!!
I couldn't believe JB missed that bunny in regulation! Great play designed by Thibs! Captain Clutch was wide open and he makes that 99/100 times!! But he was still Captain Clutch and those three threes he made in a row were huge! Loved Kevin Harlan calling him a machine! OG was huge all game too! Monster dunk in OT off that Mikal steal! And Hart was a warrior as always! That sequence where he got those 2 offensive rebounds that ended up with a Brunson three summarized what Hart is all about. So proud of Deuce! Bounced back and gave us exactly what we needed off the bench after his horrendous series against Detroit!
Hate to pick on a guy after that huge win but KAT needs to do better. That 3rd quarter was embarrassing. I get the zebras show him no respect or love (that 3rd he got was BS! Tatum jumped into him!) but the great ones figure it out despite that and KAT needs to do that. But he did have that huge putback in OT. And his one on one defense on Tatum and Brown was good. And not sure what we can do about Mitch. We need his defensive presence and help on the glass but he's becoming almost unplayable if he cannot hit at least 50-60% from the line. 3/10 is just not good enough. Precious is not that much better either so we might just need to live with it and hope KAT stays out of foul trouble.
Got to give Thibs his props too! A win is a win! Celtics shot poorly and a lot of those were good looks they normally knock down but at the same time I thought we were good defending some of those threes! We definitely need to fix the rebounding cause 19 offensive is way too much. And cannot leave 14 points on the board by missing them at the line. Can't even blame it all on Mitch cause the rest of the team was 14/21.
It's one win and it's going to be a long series if we have anything to say about it but it was an epic win! We did what we had to do! Steal one of the first two on the road! So proud of this team!!!
