Boy the Nets blew it. Back court violation and that miss by Bropez lost it for them. If either of those don't happen there is no overtime. A win at Oracle would have been huge for them on so many levels.

I agree that Lopez should have made that shot. It was almost too easy and a win at Oracle would have been huge for the Nets. I disagree about Joe retiring. He just doesn't belong on the Nets anymore. He is still really good.

Is Rondo better another year removed from injury? Is it Karl? I have to think he is better another year removed from injury. The Kings have a ton of talent.

Carlisle was trying to call every play on offense..I can see how that can be disruptive to an improvisational player like Rondo..U need a long leash with guys like Rondo..

Yeah, Rondo never would've worked in the Triangle - but you can see why I coveted him in the off-season. The guy is skilled and can orchestrate an offense to perfection.

I feel like Rondo / Melo / KP could've been a little like Rondo / Pierce / KG in how it worked. But that's not Triangular.

Rondo is such a mercurial personality, it'd be tough. But I think the guy is wildly talented.

Rondo is the pass-first PG Fisher need for the triangle and Melo shot selection, plus Rondo could push the ball for running players D.Will, Galloway, Grant, and KP

Phil Jackson would have scored big points in the offseason signing Lopez & Rondo

$9.5M, I don't think Jackson would have risked that type of money, especially considering the backfill of bigs the Knicks needed to fill out.

Parity in the league.

Got maybe 3-4 crap teams, that's it. Sac won 3 in a row so maybe they are not that bad.

Lakers, Philly and BKN are the league's worst. Nets have played only 3 home games so far! Same for SAS.

Detroit is in last place at .500 (5-5) with a 4 game losing streak.

for now warriors and SAS are the cream. ATL lost two in a row but they are in that crowded 2nd tier.

Naturally only 1/8th the season has occurred and no reason to think its a pattern that will continue but IM surprised how many teams are close to .500 even after such a short sample.

Interesting start to the season. Will Warriors win 72???

Thing with Hinkie's (Stinkie?) plan is at some point you have cash all those lottery balls for wins, right?

Having tons of picks and cap space are nice, but not if this plan is going 4 or 5 years or longer.

Ends have to justify the means eventually.

No, I see the process, I understand the argument. I don't see the virtue (and only the pitfalls) in the process, fully understanding the intent.

That still remains to be determined.

How about if he was hit by a bus tomorrow, did he put the next GM in a good position?

Which indirectly brings up the essential pitfall.

Forgetting the risk of picking a big man with an injury on purpose, we'll forgive that and assume Emiid goes on to have a good career.

The problem is - IF executed as designed, Philly is going to have to PAY all these lottery pick, in rapid succession (sometimes in the same year) and it'll be in new NBA money. Maybe Philly will be prepared to pay huge luxury tax bills and approach $150m+ payrolls (though I'm doubtful), but they'll have to IF the players turn out to be stars and if you want them to get 4-5 years of dev time together to get it together (ala OKC, who btw, couldn't keep Harden).

If not, if they're just a constantly revolving door of trade fodder, while maybe in 2-4 years they might field a competitive team, they'll never make a run at title.

I see the idea… I get the appeal go the idea of getting another top 3 pick, maybe another top 6 pick if Lakers fall just the right place, and another 2 first rounders.

But then again, down the road, EVERYONE is gonna get HUGE raises in rapid succession, or moved.

I see the theory, I just don't see the pragmatic reality in which Philly fields a core of 4-5 lottery picks well into their development, individually and as a unit.

Philly is trying to position themselves for one big harden type trade.

Not really. I mean they got rid of 2 or 3 pieces(probably more) that should've grew as core players here.

Didn't MCW win rookie of the year?

Philly is intriguing for sure. After Wiggins and Parker there was not much to choose from in a weak draft. Philly embiid picked three.

Can the kid actually play? We don't know.

They are solely reliant on the draft which is an interesting path. Not very fan friendly for the moment.

so what. People thought THJ was gonna be great too.

MCW has huge issues and that trade was brilliant.

Don't know about brilliant. I mean MCW wasn't the problem they sucked, lack of talent on the team was.

The Lakers pick the Sixers will be receiving is protected for selections 1-5 in 2015, 1-3 in 2016 and 1-3 in 2017 and unprotected in 2018

Bad news when you see where the Lakers are headed again this year. Could've had a potential #1 pick, but since it's protected...OH Well.

Stinkie, I mean Hinkie does it again.
