no way...slovenia beat russia, who is a better side, to qualify...

the u.s. is not good enough to have an easy win against any side in the world cup, i think.

and there are often "easy wins" that do not turn out that way in the world cup...

it's par the course...

ask spain who has world class players on the bench...

or england today, who is FAR better than algeria, talent wise...

closest thing we have in the u.s. to this is the ncaa tourney..

upsets happen often, and early...

a few teams do some damage in the knockout phase..

but the final 4 is usally filled with 2-3 of the top teams

let me restate things...

england has talent, and some players have flair...rooney, gerrard, lennon...but a real flamboyant player seems to be lacking...or something else..

either way, alexi lalas is beyond annoying...

not only is he a homer, but he is like the resentful american who can't get that the u.s., while getting better, is not THAT good...and england is not bad...they did well in qualifying...i think it's the pressure...

i almost think england needs a coach who can be reserved, but sometimes shows real fire...

They both look disorganized, impotent and have played piss poor football considering the talent they have on their rosters.

Yes, Slovenia only needs a tie though. US goes through on a win, but can still move up with a tie if England has a tie or worse and don't overcome the goal differential. England has to win, Algeria has to win and hope England only has a tie or a loss.
