Nah, he just went to bed. Come on, it was almost 11 by then. Way past his bedtime.

Just got back from the draft...

After Mayo was gone, all the Knicks fans chanted for Westbrook. After Westbrook was gone, we chanted for Bayless....

Basically no one there wanted the Italian Stallion (there was a big "USA" chant going on right up till the pick).

As you guys could tell, there were heavy boos once Danilo was the pick along with some "Fire Walsh" chants. We kind of all expected Lee to get traded tonight and there was one crazy rumor going around that a trade was in place with the Bobcats where we would get Felton + pick 20 for Lee + filler (I didn't have internet on me to check, but I was pretty confident that was a bs rumor).

Anyway, I'm surprised we didn't end up buying a pick at the end of the 1st round or early 2nd round, some very good prospects fell and we could have gotten a steal. Oh well.
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

Another draft night and Knicks land is still reeling - seems like it will never change. I hope this kid turns out to be a good pick.

I think DG may have a chance to be good or maybe not we'll have to see. I'm wondering myself if there could have been a better project we could have gone with to wait on for 2-3yrs instead of him. Or if we could have traded the 6th pick with other assets to get better a player of need in the draft? Seems like they were locked in on him and if we couldn't hit a Home Run well at the end of the day it was Gallinari or Bust. This is the part I can't respect, not to mention not buying other picks that were widely made known they were for sale.

My problem with NY is every year they say how the NY fans will not sit by and wait while NYK rebuilds...so they pick some hack player who ends up being a waste of time and no progress is made. This has been happening for almost a decade (1987 if you dont want to count the good years in the 90's but lets give them the benefit of the doubt).

So why do they continue to make poor trades and drafts? Why not just rebuild? I am not trying to complain about DG - the jury is out on him. I just find it funny the media and the front office think fans in NY don't want to see a rebuild when I think most of us do. How long was Zeke in power - 4 years? I mean SOME progress would have been made if he was rebuilding and not making stupid decisions trying to find impact players.

NY Fans would have bitched and complained during a rebuild, but it would have been over quicker. If you put together the Layden-Thomas years, it's more like eight years of sucking. Would a rebuild have taken so long?

Thats exactly my point - we have been so bad for so long and made these boneheaded moves that make no sense when we could have just been rebuilding....looks like its going to hurt to be a Knicks fan for another 4 years.

YEAH BABY!!! CDR to the Nets. That's awesome.

I'm loving their team. Seriously how can you not?

listen, it's not like i like what the knicks did but the nets are going to be epic-ly bad next year. they just gave away their best player for pennies on the dollar for an attempt to get lebron with cap space. they have almost zero scoring capability. when vince goes into wince mode, CDR might realistically lead them in scoring.

the last time kiki had max cap room he gave kmart $90 million. the nets had a decent draft, but i'd rather have robin lopez than brook lopez. they are going to struggle something fierce next year. they'll get a top three pick for sure in 2009. vince carter is a lock to miss 40 games with made up injuries and pouting next year.

i know they're rebuilding, but on a rebuild the best value you can get for richard jefferson is yi? really?

Don't sleep on Yi. And being epic-ly bad next year is exactly what they should want so that they can add another top lottery pick next year.

The free agent pool is so deep in 2010, it's not just about LeBron, and being that far under the cap with a bunch of good young players already on your team is a great situation.

Is Yi gonna get people to go to the swamp to watch Nets games? I dunno...
-- the preceding post was brought to you by the letter K and the number 22.

No. He won't draw people to the arena, but he will sell a lot of merchandise with the Asian community if he just plays with some form of decency.

This trade was undoubtedly more about the expiring contract than Yi.
