like i said, they are now validated and empowered.

Very, very disturbing and disheartening.

They been spray painting that for years.

I've seen it half a dozen times in myself in parts of NJ, West Milford etc.

Like someone else said we already know there are rogue nutjobs out there. It's nothing new

Wasn't someone also saying voting for Gary Johnson in a place like New Hampshire cost Hillary the election?

New Hampshire has only 4 electoral votes.

How would that have made a difference for Hillary?

Well guys, I'm going to make a formal exit from this thread pretty soon or else this (bad?) habit of returning here will never end.

Thanks to everyone who took part and I engaged with. I wondered why I was so compelled to come back here. But maybe it was because I was engaging with points of views that I just aren't exposed to and I felt compelled to look it dead in the face and try to engage with them. If I hadn't taken part of this thread and just remained in a bubble I may have been totally devastated.

That said, as a nominal member of the Democratic Party, there are things I need to figure out about where that party is going and if I will be a part of it. To me, just passive membership has proven pretty useless. I don't feel comfortable with the GOP, and I'm in NY anyway. It's not a place for me, but I do need to feel convinced that the Democratic party is something worth my time, or else I will put it in the dustbin just like I have with Hillary Clinton.

It is a testament to where we are where almost everyone here who — sometimes eloquently, sometimes patiently, sometimes logically, sometimes bluntly, sometimes stupidly — advocated for voting for Hillary over Trump, and almost none of us was genuinely excited about Hillary. We knew her weaknesses. A lot of us were Bernie folks.

I "get" support for Trump. But I also "get" the fear. There is some really interesting stuff culturally going on. I was saying it was "deep" but maybe it's actually pretty simple. But I don't think I can discuss it here any further, at least not in this thread.

I feel the need to find allies and people I don't entirely agree with in the real world and struggle with them to deal with these questions.

I have at times gotten emotional and personal but I hope I have been largely considerate and gracious with you folks. I tipped my cap to BRIGGS and guns and EMS and other Trump supporters because I like to treat people the way I'd want to be treated. I'd like to think that they would have done the same for me, but maybe that's just idealism and just some pollyanna bull**** that helps me get to sleep at night.

I've come here almost everyday for better part of a year... I don't even really care about the Knicks. I don't have cable, live in NYC so subject to blackouts, trying not to waste money and time in the bar. The only way I can even watch MSG — ironically — is via bootleg streams from Russia. So I don't even have anything to say about the Knicks, and saw this thread as an offseason distraction. But honestly, maybe my interests have just shifted from a ball game played by millionaires, financed by JPMorgan Chase, and kept out of affordability by a cable industry in death throes.

Shout out to all the posters fighting the good fight in here, trying to advocate a sense of history, perspective, logic and empathy. It's been real and surreal. Thanks martin and Andrew for the forum.

It's been a series of ups and downs but overall I'm pretty proud and its always a pleasure to engage with you Doc. Need more people like you. If everyone treated eachother with the same level of respect America would be much better off. We've discussed things they aren't discussing anywhere else. It was certainly not a wasted effort

It was a pleasure to read your posts and opinions.
I always enjoy the dialog with people who while having completely different and even opposite opinion can discuss things politely, with respect and sense of humor.
I came from the country where Trumps were at every corner of life. So he is not something special or unbelievable to me.
The fascination and fear many poster of this site have about him is truly fascinating to me.
People in most of the places of the World are thinking about it "I wish I would have the problem Americans are having...".
I also agree with you that this elections brought to the surface the main conflict human race is facing at this moment of history.
Multi-cultural against the mono-cultural society.
Every country and every nation will need to make a choice. And who will get it wrong will end up in the dumpster of the history.
How to keep you nation identity an at the same time peacefully and prosperously coexist with other cultures?
The nations who will master this or already get it will survive the test of time and those who not will vanish.
Hopefully this election will help many to open their eyes to this challenge and will make them strong.

Bro, do you really want it to come to this? There will always be some pretty bad people who like whomever is elected, Hillary, Trump, don't matter.
What is the point?

I'm just pointing out why a lot of people are freaking out. Is Duke wrong? "Our people" played a HUGE role. What does "our people" mean? I'm not saying that these people are all virulent racists and anti-Semites like Duke. But there was organization and energy coming from Duke-types. Won't they want to be acknowledged? Trump denounced him in 2000, and danced around a denouncement for days this time around. Because he understood the demographics and psychographics?

Don't make me out to be the bad guy for bringing this up. It's answering the question "what do we have to lose" from the OP.

Ok, I missed the part about "why a lot of people are freaking out". That post stood on it's own I though.

Not making you out to be a bad guy. Wondering where you are going with it and what good can come from it.

Dude you went on a Twitter embed rager for a week or so. I remember you listing a list of deaths you said Clinton were responsible for, attributing millions of deaths on her, and calling her a member of a crime family. And you weren't even going to vote for anyone.

I just point out he has some prominent racist fans who feel a sense of ownership in this election and you ask me "what is the point?" and ask me if I really want it to come to this.

It don't matter to you in Germany if racists are empowered over here? My sister's co-worker is a Muslim Pakistani-American and went to the polls with a friend wearing a headcovering and they got "go back to Syria" jeers. In ****ing Jersey City, New Jersey... not out in some rural district. They are citizens of this country. Shit is real out here and people are scared. The silent majority may not be silent any more.

How will Trump reassure these folks who are scared?

Bump for EMS

Not sure what you are saying. Sounds like I said something that triggered you. Not my intention. Was an honest question.

First, I didn't go on a rage, I just posted some twitter posts, kind of normal. Showed the deaths the ClintonS were connected to (but that wasn't Twitter)
I connected her to the 30,000 deaths in Libya and said she voted for Iraq and Afghanistan. I didn't say she was responsible for them.
Definitely I called her a part of the Clinton Crime family and there are quite a few books and websites that present a wealth of information to support that.

Anyway, to your question.
If you are asking me that since I'm in Germany, do I care about violence in American? Sure I do, I have family there and even if I didn't, I'm not for violence.
America is in a tough position with violence, but I'm no Trump expert (though I will be following him and his policies).
I was more worried about the Aggression of Hillary and war with Russia and I was honest about it. But I didn't vote for Trump, I just preferred him over Clinton.
Each of us are responsible for our actions. Hopefully Trump can bring people together and not increase the separation that was already there before he was president.

You just made that post with no background and I didn'T understand why, and I asked. No reasons to get all upset about it.

The Dems never did that to Republican presidents and haven't been that nasty after Trump's win. Instead they are being very gracious and talking about working with Trump. This is not right and both sides are not the same in this regard, even when Dems obstruct it's not anywhere near the same level. They worked with Reagan and Bush. They didn't throw trash into the gears to shut down the government like the Republicans.

All the Republicans care about is being in power. Once they get what they want they are all so cooperative and all of a sudden looking to actually govern, which they literally stopped doing for 8 years. Now that they have UNITED government they have all these plans and ideas they want to get right to work on. Stuff they could've done to help the country the last 8 years but refused to do. It's truly sinister. Now they'll be passing BOATLOADS of bills and making all kinds of changes. Where was all of that the last 8 years when we needed it?

Whats funny is that they didn't want to work with Obama on the infrastructure spending bill, they said no...The also rejected Obama 28% corporate tax proposal bill and cut loopholes...But Trump will fix it..But as long as it gets done, it's all good...

Trump wanted to illuminate the death tax so he could pass his wealth to his kids, well that will happen now...

illuminate or eliminate the death tax?
Should a person be taxed leaving money to their children? Seems like they are all part of the same family. Billionaire or not, stay away from Family matters government.

Death tax. Probably the most ridiculous law. Not only does it suck to die but the only thing that helps you sleep at night, knowing your kids will be cared for after your lifelong effort. You get taxed again on your money that you already paid tax on. Can't make it up. For what?

Yeah, it just seems like people are looking to pick on Trump now. If I was going to do that, I wouldn't bring up a BS tax about taxing money left for Children.

There is anger on the board and I've been careful about my words (since Trump has won) as I don't want this to be about "my guy won". We have bigger fish to fry, bigger worries.
Regardless, people are offended for my questions or points, when I'm not even having any intention of being aggressive, demoralising, etc.

There is no acknowledgment or response from many with the posts that actually make sense. But anything unclear is attacked as if it was meant to be personal and negative.
My intentions here, rather as a human being, are good. We have some more tough times ahead, hope it can all work out...

whew! Forgot death and estate tax was the same thing!

I'm not rich, quite the opposite. But I don't think if someone leaves Billions to their Children (that was already taxed once or more) that it shouldn't again be taxed when being given to their family/children. That is ridiculous and comes about from submission to ever worsening laws and policies.

I'm seeing so much hysteria regarding the rise of the KKK and the return of slavery?

Why was I and others alike shamed for wanting to end terrorism and accused of buying into Trump's hysteria.

What we are seeing now seems a little crazier no?

Nice subterfuge--yep Donald Trump is a KKK guy. How about stop being a crybaby sore loser?? How about "some" respect for the person who won fair and square and the 60mm who voted for him?. Give him a chance--what has he done wrong? He outworked Hillary and won the job--simple as that. I get a kick out of how some of these guy's say how can they tell their kids? Did I miss when Donald Trump committed mass murder somewhere? It's funny JR Smith was saying "how can I trust my kids over someone's house who voted for Trump" --the same JR who not that long ago took a picture of his girlfriend's bare ass without her consent and put it on Twitter. This wholier than thou sht is absolutely ridiculous. How about people use common sense?

I want to see how people react when they have 10-20% more in their paycheck in 6 months. Or when someone dies in their family and they get to keep their predecessors hard earned money instead of handing 50% over to the government. Lets see if concentrating on our border security reduces a large amount of drug inflow and subsequent crime. Lets wait and see if he can create 100ks of k of jobs--thats what he wants to do . I really have to question what people listen to --the reason Hillary did not get in the BIOG reason--she had no platform she had NO message--and he did. She had no message for millions of people who have been left holding a bag of nothing.

Guess what sun's coming up tomorrow kid's have to go to school and many of us have to earn some money. I don't really think much of what D Trump is going to do. My hope is that he follows through with many of his promises and I feel very good that he will. Wont effect my life 0/100

And for those who still have their heads and ears some where else -we MAY MAY MAY have dodged a VERY serious bullet with Russia. We were going down a BAD path and Hillary wasn't going to help it.

Give the guy a chance

Nice post.

The Country seems divided and now, actually has been, but now they have something to rally around to support this division.
I don't want to take part in that. We are in a dangerous position and I hope we can make this less about politics and more about humanity.

What this country needs, what the world needs, is cooperation amongst the people. Dare I say love and understanding primarily.
We are heading down a dangerous road and I hope people can realize it.

Yeah, thanks to the mods for letting us have this discussion here and not putting it in the "free speech zone."

GOP has complete control over the country. So no excuses! Time to see if their ideals really bare fruit. They blocked Obama at every turn. Now they have complete control to run this country how they see fit. If they succeed then they can swing a lot of people. If they fail they have no one to blame but themselves and the future generations will take notice.

Its hard for me to believe Trump is for the people like he claims he is but we will see. Not like I believe Hillary was for the people either. Bernie was the only one I felt confident was for the people. But I pray Trump meets the expectations.

Trumps 100 day plan

http://www.npr.org/2016/11/09/501451368/here-is-what-donald-trump-wants-to-do-in-his-first-100-days

* FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;

* SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health);

* THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated;

* FOURTH, a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service;

POLITICS
WATCH: Hillary Clinton Concedes Presidential Race To Donald Trump
* FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government;

* SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.

On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers:

* FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205

* SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership

* THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator

* FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately

WATCH: President Obama On Trump Win, Clinton Loss
POLITICS
WATCH: President Obama On Trump Win, Clinton Loss
* FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars' worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.

* SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward

* SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America's water and environmental infrastructure

Additionally, on the first day, I will take the following five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law:

* FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama

* SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States

* THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities

* FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won't take them back

* FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting.

Next, I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration:

Middle Class Tax Relief And Simplification Act. An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief, and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with 2 children will get a 35% tax cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from 7 to 3, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be lowered from 35 to 15 percent, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10 percent rate.

End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.
American Energy & Infrastructure Act. Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over 10 years. It is revenue neutral.
School Choice And Education Opportunity Act. Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends common core, brings education supervision to local communities. It expands vocational and technical education, and make 2 and 4-year college more affordable
.
Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act. Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications.

Doc it's been a pleasure..Thanks for your insightful evenhanded input..Nice to get the thoughts of some outside of basketball...I still think the systems is rigged to a certain class in this country...We should be moving to a system of one man, one vote, or an electoral system that is weighted on the population of each state...And even a congressional representation based on population as well..You have guy like Mitch McConnell who come from small state but wield lots of power in the Senate which caters to the small electorate that put him there..Doesn't make sense in a true democracy..The Supreme Court is rigged as well...90% of the population want gun reform and an organization of 5 million people(NRA) carry enough weight in Congress to override the concerns of 320 million people...It just isn't right...Maybe this Trump presidency is a good thing and it's a wake up call given these protest...Maybe it's time for people to start paying attention to government and how laws are being enacted...Forget party, how can a low life like Trump represent this great Country..His wife posed nude for girl on girl pix for Christ sake...That in itself illustrates Trump's value system...All because of a rigged system where a few favor people revolted because they thought their way of life was being left behind...Democracy...ok...

As for the Knicks, I too are less interested in the day to day ramblings of the organization...Too much drama and not enough winning for my time...I have been saying from day one that Phil needs to let his coach run his own system because it undermines the coach with his players...I said it after his first speech when he made reference to wanting a "system"..We know what system that was didn't we.....Maybe after the next coach they will get it...Onward...

Go crawl back under your rock now, commie pinko!

And spare me your blather about not caring about the only team on earth that matters in the only true athletic endeavor in the universe. I have no cable, I have no TV reception whatsoever, but I still follow my beloved team on FM radio, providing the wind is right and there's not too much air traffic flying into the AFB I live next to. Russian bootleg streams. Figures.

And when Alan Keyes is finally elected to the justly deserved office of POTUS, just know we will be deporting you immediately. So pick your liberal, free-drugs, sexually deviant socialist country now, you pathetic, distracted OWS wannabe. We will be tracing your whereabouts through these lame azz posts of yours.

At this point, I am fairly convinced that 90% of everything Trump said was total BS, and he is not going to do most of what he claimed. He is never going to get Mexico to pay for a wall. He is not getting term limits passed (which would require a constitutional amendment). He probably is not going to cut regulations to any significant extent and he simply is not smart enough to fix the tax code. He will lower taxes on the rich, he will pull back Obamacare, and he will increase defense spending. Beyond that, I have doubts he will do much else. The real danger is in foreign policy because we have to worry about his temperament, and if he really plans to play the role of isolationist, it may give countries like Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia the opportunity to expand their power. We will just have to wait and see.
