I heard Nash and Kobe are injured too? They really cant catch a break

What the heck are they going to do next season? Gasol has no trade value, they have no pick, no cap room, any salary they add will have massive, massive tax implications, Kobe, MWP and Nash will be another year older- just doesn't look good for them.

The Los Angeles Lakers would like to remind the rest of the NBA that 33 is in fact greater than 27.

-- the preceding post was brought to you by the letter K and the number 22.

How come Ty Lawson is listed as 'day to day' when he has a torn plantar fascia? Gasol had that and was out for weeks. Bad break for the Nuggets, but I like Andre Miller so he should be able to step in and keep them afloat.

May have something to do with severity and were it is located and pain threshold?

Plantar tears are such an unpredictable injury that two cases are never the same. Pau Gasol is also a bigger and older player, but if it's not going to be be surgically repaired (which it usually isn't), the player is literally day-to-day because one day it will feel good and the next day it will hurt to the point where he can't put weight on his foot. It's about pain threshold and how it feels on any given day.

Ah- I just assumed if something on the base of your foot is torn, you'd be pretty much screwed until it had fully healed- doesn't sound easy to play with.

There is a lot of speculation that they amnesty Metta. I think it is a huge cap savings for them with their salary situation. A lot of D'Antoni is done stuff in the media. Sheridan wrote an article yesterday, I heard Jim Rome saying it today. I think he was a bad fit. It will be interesting to see what happens. His fate may decide D12's.

From Dwyer's column:
Given Gasol’s recovery rate, it’s fair to wonder if Lawson won’t be able to return to action until the first week of May. Though the elongated first round can sometimes last for two weeks, this could still preclude Lawson from returning to the Nuggets in the first round of the postseason. This is an injury that doesn’t require surgery, but fascia tears are incredibly painful and need plenty of rest and treatment on the way toward recovery. Even then, a full return isn’t guaranteed -- Pau Gasol’s dodgy play in the first two games of his comeback from injury is proof enough of this.

Thanks for posting that- if I were Denver I'd rest him. Miller as their starting PG should allow them to win half of their games the rest of the season, then see where Lawson is come playoff time.

That reminds me- can't believe that the Griz played Gasol with an abdominal muscle tear against us. I know teams seem to feel obligated to have injured players return when playing against us, but we were without Tyson- why risk it? Glad we beat them anyways!

Memphis beats the rockets. Beverly getting more minutes and better numbers than Lin again.

Nuggets 50-24....1 of only 4 teams in the league with 50 wins.

Koufos set the tone and Fournier/Chandler/Brewer came in to finish the job....

No Lawson and they're still very competitive. Although brooklyn didn't have Joe Johnson tonight.

I don't watch the nuggets that much. I thought gallo looked really good. Do Faried miss Lawson? Evans looked really good for nj when I was watching.

Utah won so they are tied with the Lakers record wise for 8th but espn has Utah in 8th. Not sure if that is based on season series, conference record etc.

Looking forward to you being just as impressed when the Knicks hit 50 wins. Though I expect you'll come up with some sort of excuse as to why it doesn't actually count.

The big 50! has Karl set the nuggets on a course for sustained excellence?

Why should it be just as impressive? If the Knicks do make it to 50 wins they'll probably have about 30 losses and be 1 of 7 or 8 teams with 50.

nix play in a weaker EC and had a very easy schedule relative to denver's this season. even if they finish with the same record the nuggets will be universally considered the better team and deservedly so.

this should not be too hard to accept.

the only thing certain stubborn nix fans will be able to hang their beanies on is if the nuggets don't go further than the knicks in the playoffs.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
