What the heck are they going to do next season? Gasol has no trade value, they have no pick, no cap room, any salary they add will have massive, massive tax implications, Kobe, MWP and Nash will be another year older- just doesn't look good for them.

Plantar tears are such an unpredictable injury that two cases are never the same. Pau Gasol is also a bigger and older player, but if it's not going to be be surgically repaired (which it usually isn't), the player is literally day-to-day because one day it will feel good and the next day it will hurt to the point where he can't put weight on his foot. It's about pain threshold and how it feels on any given day.

Ah- I just assumed if something on the base of your foot is torn, you'd be pretty much screwed until it had fully healed- doesn't sound easy to play with.

Given Gasol’s recovery rate, it’s fair to wonder if Lawson won’t be able to return to action until the first week of May. Though the elongated first round can sometimes last for two weeks, this could still preclude Lawson from returning to the Nuggets in the first round of the postseason. This is an injury that doesn’t require surgery, but fascia tears are incredibly painful and need plenty of rest and treatment on the way toward recovery. Even then, a full return isn’t guaranteed -- Pau Gasol’s dodgy play in the first two games of his comeback from injury is proof enough of this.

nix play in a weaker EC and had a very easy schedule relative to denver's this season. even if they finish with the same record the nuggets will be universally considered the better team and deservedly so.

this should not be too hard to accept.

the only thing certain stubborn nix fans will be able to hang their beanies on is if the nuggets don't go further than the knicks in the playoffs.
