dude, have u checked what Jr's stats look like this year? he's been HORRIBLE!... Melky's putting up way better numbers... yeah, i suggested him and & i suggested Andruw Jones too... Andruw's had a nice bounceback year so far, but guess what? Melky's outplaying both those guys.
Agreed; that's why we both decided there were better options available--options Cashman was blind to. Melky's been better? So what? We have no backup outfielder now. Damon's an old man who can't field and we're depending on him to stay healthy and never need rest. That's a mistake but it pales in comparison to the stupidity of Cashman's handling of the starting rotation last year and bullpen this year.
LOL... so it's Cashman's fault that we don't have an able 5th reserve OFer on the bench to backup Melky? hahaha... this is getting funnier by the moment... Brett Gardner's no hitting star but he can defend all 3 OF positions... he's as good as any team has on their bench as a 5th OFer... Cashman didn't exactly expect Nady to be injured this year either... he made a very smart trade to bring in Nick Swisher, but of course he doesn't get any credit for such moves... the bullpen on paper looked to be very good to start off the season but then Bruney gets injured, Marte gets injured, Mo gives up a few shocking late inning HR's & blows some saves & things go downhill from there... u gonna blame Cashman for all these things? get real.
Man I totally agree. People make Cash out to be some kind of boob who runs around here walking into walls. WTF? Enough already with the throwing out blame every which-way - Cashman sucks, Girardi needs to go. Gimmie a break. Brian Cashman knows what he's doing. Has he never made trades to bring in reinforcments before??? Has he never made decisions to reach into the minors and bring up players to help? In case you've been living under a rock, scroll back a little and just look at the list TMS put up there... Bottom line right now - we're only 30 games into this and I think he's probably still in the process of evaluating EVERYTHING. The guy's had to deal with a Chien-Ming Wang meltdown completely out of leftfield plus key injuries to A-Rod, Xavier Nady, Brian Bruney, Demaso Marte, Jorge Posada, and now Jose Molina plus the recent realization that Mariano might be becoming human. WTF do people want him do? Go out and wave the magic wand and make instant trades for a starting RFer, a frontline starter, two 8th inning bullpen guys, a replacement closer & a starting catcher all within the next week?????? It doesn't work that way. It's a process. Step 1 completed - we got A-Rod back and he had an immediate impact. The other injured players are a little further away and we're just gonna have to be patient. Nothing else we can do right now. 30 games into the season is way too early for any team out there to start thinking about unloading their top talent. There's not a single team out there who thinks they're out of the race already only 30 games in. Houston Astros for example - I think guys like Roy Oswalt and maybe even a Carlos Lee might become available at some point but not right now. It's too early man. The Astros are still in the process of evaluating their own situation. Now if Houston continue to faulter 75 games in, then maybe Cash can talk to them and work something out. Hopefully 75 games in over here, we'll have this straightened out somewhat and not have a need for Roy Oswalt... As far as replacements from within go -- we have some pitchers who are ready for the majors and some who aren't, specifically the younger guys (Dellin Betances for example) & the guys who are still feeling their way back from TJ surgery (Andrew Brackman, Christian Garcia, Humberto Sanchez who we just got back). As far as minor league position players go, we have some good ones (A-Jax and Jesus Montero immediately come to mind) but I think they want to be patient with those guys. If you rush young guys to the majors and throw them in the Bronx pressure cooker right now, you run the risk of ruining them if they don't perform. And that's the last thing they want.
Hey the situation sucks right now although it got a little brighter last night. I'm the first one to come on here and rant about how terrible and lifeless they've been lately. But in the overall scheme of things, only 30 games in, ya gotta be patient and let Cashman properly evaluate the situation. The man's got a lot on his plate right now but I'm confident that he'll make good, sound decisions when the time comes. He always has. Then it's all up to the players he's either brought up or brought in to perform up to their abilities. That's it...
