He is so effective at creating space its hard to foul him.
secret to longevity is not getting crushed by contact.
Picks are often currency for the future. We in "now" mode. We final 4 and if healthy a path to a chip.

He doesn't get fouled because he will take 3 foot fadeaways to avoid contact around the basket. He will pretty much avoid contact at all costs. It's honestly fine though, we have guys that play for contact and that is likely the biggest reason the guy is never injured. He doesn't put himself in harms way. Mikal is a silky smooth player, smart, doesn't want the spotlight or complain about touches. He has done what he was brought here to do for us, even if it was a rocky road with Knicks fans to this point.

I would have gone a different direction, but I no longer hate the Mikal trade.

Can’t argue with success.
Regardless of what I thought of KAT and Bridges, can’t argue with results

Mikal was legendary against the Celtics! We will talk about what he did 10, 20, 30 years from now. The 'Zioned' in game one and steal-block in game two are now two of the greatest plays in Knicks history!

Bridges doing better on the boards in the playoffs has been important. Several good putbacks and tip ins.

I’m not a fan again.

The only move Leon should have made in the off-season was to acquire a serviceable center.

Fire Leon.

I missed the game. Good thing, because I had a good day otherwise.

They still are and will go down this way.

Truth is, Mikal wasn’t really worth all the picks we gave up because in the NBA those moves should bring you a sure star. Mikal is a very good role player when used right. He has his moments, but he isn’t the constant presence we hoped to get, not even on defense, where we thought he was a sure thing.

He is in the end part of the issue. He is playing out of his ideal role and unfortunately won’t get you back the assets given up for him.

You can understand the logic:

Knicks with Julius and DDV have a low ceiling with probably no real shot at a title.

KAT is the kind of amazing talent offensively to get you closer. The second star needed with Brunson.

It just wasn’t evident how badly the two would be on defense and how inconsistent OG and Mikal would be in improving that.

We might indeed need to consolidate two of them in a better, more defensively minded player, if we are lucky.

This combination of players is not really it.

The “Run it back” sentiment was more about the feeling that KAT was not worth that much of our CAP and that Bridges was not the final piece worth the several picks. As well as the feeling we would not be that much better.

We are a better team I think and still to be seen if moves were worth it but if we don’t beat the Pacers, are we that much better?
Feel we need to give this squad more time but the goal was to compete for a chip by adding these “final” pieces. If we can’t and we are hindered from making moves that will, then it was not a successful move.

Run it back sentiment was due to us being a phenomenal team in the January following the OG trade.

That January team wipes the floor with what we have now.

iHart is gone, and I would have looked to find another serviceable big man.

Our ceiling now is beating mid-tier teams.

Beating Detroit was a struggle, and the Celtics were not healthy. Even before Tatum went down.

So yes, we should probably freak out about Bridges.

I knew that Bridges was a finesse player when we got him. But not to the point where he seems to play an entire game without contact.

Unless Bridges is brought off the bench, Id rather trade him. As I said before, Jamal Crawford was also a finesse player, more offensive minded. Crawford moved to the bench and won 3 6th man of the year awards.

Bridges disappearing acts for long stretches might be solved with a bench role. More urgency to make the minutes count.

Bridges to the bench was probably too much egg on our faces this season.

But next year? Hell yes off the bench please. Sign me up.
