Thinking some more about that Randle play and I think this topic came up a few weeks ago. Even if you think the big is going to turn over the ball you have to give the big touches. I played center so I know this especially well. If you want them to continue to do the dirty work you need to feed them occasionally. It helps keep them engaged. I have been on many teams with ball hogs and I know exactly what Rudy felt. They want him to rebound and cover for their defensive mistakes but even with a mismatch and his man sealed under the basket with single coverage he got looked off. If Ruby somehow messes it up you live with it because you keep him engaged in the game and that will help more than a dejected and pouty Rudy.

Guys like Embiid and Randle are so talented, there is no doubting that.

Both of them also need to be managed by coaching staff or other players. It's time and energy and can cause teams to go into spirals.

It's like an unwanted surcharge that you can avoid but don't.

I think the Knicks always understood this and that's why they stood by Randle, to get the best out of him. But everyone has their limits. Same with the crazy ex who is god level in bed, right?

What is it about Philly? The process was a disaster, Butler was not retained, they had good a good coach in Brett Brown but bailed on him, Doc is a good coach but he polarized his players, especially Ben Simmons who at the time faced a crisis of confidence and instead of rebuilding him and support, they scapegoated him. What the hell happened with Harden? On the surface he was fat, lazy and flat out abstinent there. But he put up numbers.
See the pattern? Butler walked away from that **** show. What the hell is it about that place? Change GM's don't change it? Coaching don't change it. Embiid is a top talent and he is either pulling down the franchise or they are to him (he does grab ankles as we know). Is it ownership? Morey? The dude gets the talent in the door.
I get Jimmy Butler who was at the height of his powers having blown up in Minny and perhaps was too much in the locker room. Over and over the circumstances are not a clear pattern.

The blame game on this franchise is not easily pointed to given the complexity and layers. Clearly Embiid is the choice given his contract, stature, and talent. The narrative around him has often been "he is too aloof" thus gets labeled all kinds of things. They are not wrong. Just amazing that outside of Butler, they chew guys up like Fultz and Michael Carter Williams, and Simmons (all no. 1 picks in the draft mind you!) and grind them down.

Blame? what to do next? Fuck if this knicks fan cares. Starts with ownership. You don't extend max contracts with them. Morey will be the poster child at some point. Thats part of the job.

Would be nice for Hubie to go off with a Knicks game I think. Tough year for Hubie - lost his son and former Knicks radio announcer Brendan.
