I think some of what we saw was the vet point guards being able to pass out of the trap when Miami pressures the pick and roll. It leaves guys wide open for threes and while the Knicks won't be as good every night as they were tonight, but many of the looks were incredibly wide open and taken by guys who you want taking them. I also don't know where Smith got that ability to drive and kick from, but man...

I do wish that Pablo and Felton would look to score more when they penetrate sometimes, but I'll take performances like tonight every night. Great effort from the Knicks.

I also thought the Knicks had a great game-plan. They played really slow and got back on defense most of the time to prevent the Heat from running. The Knicks have a solid half-court system in place.

AWESOME game! Watched at Abbey Pub on 105 and Bway- good Ny scene w guys yelling at the TV like the Buick likes to do- went w my new GF who played PG in high school in Columbia (the country)- she's a new Knick fan- went across the street after and heard some good music at Smoke- drove around in the dark on the west side below 14th getting to and from Brooklyn- pretty surreal! Looking forward to a season of hard D and good passes-
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

DVR the game but still fell asleep but caught most of it and it was fun to watch. Ball movement was great. We rained the 3 tonite and it worked.

A win is always good, but one against the Heat is sweet!

Man, if you're going to look for the negative even when we beat the best team in the league by 20 points, then it's going to be a long season for you- you seem to enjoy it more when we lose.

Yeah, we won't shoot that well from 3 every game, but you know we won't be facing an elite defense like Miami's every game either.

Savour the victory- it was a great win, and a great start to the season. we have scope to be even better since Amar'e, Shump and Camby were out. Worry about s*** when it happens.

I got to see 1/2 the game (and some of the Houston game as well) and I give props to the Knicks for playing a great game. Clearly, our depth and height caused the Heat problems. I really didn't think having these veterans would have made as much of a difference as it did. Long season ahead, but I have to stand partially corrected after one game. We know we played great teams pretty good last year, so it will be interesting to see if we can keep this up against not so good teams.

I don't want to see so much reliance on 3pt shots.

Nice to see the minutes down outside of Melo's 39 - I do hope we see Copeland getting some of his minutes. I mean if our guys can keep their minutes at 30 or a bit more, then come the playoffs we will be very rested not to mention it will help to keep injuries down.

Looking at the Box Score the only one having trouble shooting was JR but he had 6 dimes.

We shot 50% from the 3. WE took 16 more 3's than Miami and about 15 more FG's also.

That's MDA's style! We took 30 MORE shots than Miami!

Im not bitching cuz we freaking blew them out of the City last nite!

If Woody wants to take the best from MDA and Larry Im fine with that!

So Knicks crush the Heat and I see people downplaying talking about but the Heat were not trying... SMH. Haters need to get the hell off this board.

Exactly....And thats what you call a coach without an ego who is not married to one-way of playing. For as much as we knocked MDA for his lack of detailed attention on the defensive end, and not catering his O to the personnel, he usually did a good job of spacing the floor. Obviously, Woodson has incorporated that to some extent. Nothing wrong with incorporating the best elements from an offensive guru aswell as taking from a defensive mastermind in Brown and mixing all together.

My only concern is, if you really want to be an elite defensive team, you cant be too reliant on the 3-ball, especially on an off night. Those long rebounds will kill your transition D.

I just got back from the game and was amazed at the ball movement. We won't be that good from 3 every night but we also won't be as bad from close range. Best things were the ball movement and D. Tyson completely changes a game just by his presence.

Don't want to get too hyped, but this game showed what we're capable of. Love the 3 headed PG monster.

Agreed about Tyson's presence. I seriously cant wait until Camby is healthy so that we wont lose that paint presence when Chandler goes to the bench...

Totally agree. Also, the backcourt was so impressive on both ends of the court. The Knicks had a real training camp with a real coach and they have some very talented vets in the back court. It made a huge difference against the champs. I don't think its going to take Woodson the first 15 games to figure things out.

It seems to be a trend to compare new guys with guys that left. I thought Brewer looked great and I didn't miss Fields the whole game. Brewer looked so much better than he did two weeks ago on the court. Can't wait for Shump to come back. The Knicks are going to be a tough out this year.

I thought Brewer did a decent job on LeBron who, let's face it, is essentially unguardable. To pull off that fast break spin move at 6'8"/260 is ridiculous.

For the most part Brewer let him take jump shots, and when James penetrated, Tyson was there to help out.

I don't even think Brewer is 100%, wait until he starts finishing like this again.

There was one instant where bron got by brewer only to be met by tyson in which he ran into him like a brick wall, fell bck and turn the ball over..it was so satisfying to see the look on brons face..looking at the ref for a bailout

I still think we match up great against miami because of our depth, size, veterans smarts, and above all defense. Miami literally has to play lebron and wade the entire game against us in order to remain in the game
