I like what d'antoni said about Jeffries. I have always admired and related jeffries hustle and hard work because i am the same way on teh court. i think the fans who booed and even some of the people on this board dont realize how hard jeffires has worked and the little things he does. Granted he is not an offensive player but he rebounds draws charges and plays clean

knicks fans dont want to see JJ2 shoot but it is clear he worked on his game and has always played quite well offensively in the dantoni system

Oh this is good:

The good thing about Baron Davis' delayed debut is he can sit on bench and learn how to run offense watching Jeremy Lin.

OHHHHH SNAP! That was cold. I actually think Baron would be OK in this offense and had slowed down his wild shooting ways of the past.

Lin tho is tailor made for this offense. For those that think MDA had no plan for Lin, that's just stupid!!! You think he and the coaches and players didn't see what he could do in practice? You think when they sent him to get reps in the D league that was just to get rid of him? What sense would that make? CLERARLY they wanted to try and get the kid acclimated faster by getting him some run that he couldn't get in practice here with no days off.

Big time team win................I still hate the fraud coach we have!!!!!

That fraud coach could turn Lin into a star and help turn the team around. I believed we needed a PG and now that we do, even without our big guns we put on a fight.

Lets not give all the credit to MDA for what Lin is doing. Lin is doing all this because Lin is great.

Breen said that D'Antoni told him he didn't know how what he had in Lin because with limited practice time he needed to get Bibby, Shump and Douglas reps. Lin caught a break but he is successful because of his character, work ethic and talent not some special plan that the coach had for him.

+1

Don't be silly! No one is giving MDA the credit for the player that Lin is. Same as with Nash, who was already a very good player. However, this system allows a kid like Lin to be able to SHINE! It's just a good marriage. Can't we be happy we have both Lin and MDA that fit well together?

Man! Nix,

If I am ever arrested I am calling you. You are the most tennacious person I've seen (or read) Like a partisan politician hitting all the circuits ramming that message home.

I am totally pysched about Lin. I just don't want to hear anymore spins about how his not playing was part of D'Antoni's development plan for him when the man himself told Mike Breen that he couldn't get him reps at the point guard spot in practice so he didn't know what he had.

C'mon Nixluva, you were praising D'Antoni for his patience in developing him and waiting for the right moment to let Lin play. Not everything bad that happens to the Knicks has something to do with D'Antoni just as everything good that happens to the Knicks isn't because of D'Antoni. You frequently find a way to work MDA into any conversation about this team's improvement on any level. When it isn't balanced with even the slightest criticism it comes off as an infomercial.

You know the game and have great insights but you have too much emotionally invested when it comes to MDA, by your own admission. If you didn't reflexively defend D'Antoni at every turn, you wouldn't catch so much heat. Admitting he f'ed up once in a while doesn't make you any less of an admirer of his. Even HOF coaches F up from time to time, nothing wrong with pointing that out once in a while.

Crush, that's coach talk! You really think he didn't know? All the players said they knew from playing with him. The coach MEANS that he wasn't sure if how he looked was a fluke, practice All Star but real game dud... You need to see a player get it done over time and that's why he sent him to the D league to get some reps in the system. LIN HIMSELF stated that he needed that! Stop hating on the coach. One day you're going to realize that we have a good coach if you can stop hating on him for things that really aren't his fault.

We've said for how long that if you put a PG in this system you'd see a HUGE difference. These looks were always there but we didn't have a PG that could take advantage. Lin has the talent to do that, but let's also remember that if MDA didn't like Lin he wouldn't be here. Lin was in no mans land after being cut twice without having a chance to show what he could do. Both Lin and MDA deserve credit.

How can you say that MDA didn't handle the Lin situation perfectly when Lin is playing with confidence and succeeding? How do you know that he was ready sooner even tho he had NEVER practiced in the system and said that he needed his stint in the D League to get comfortable? Don't assume that it was automatic that Lin was gonna just ball when he got here.
