Melo is pretty damn cool. I always liked him more than Lebron and I hope he and Amare win us a championship.

I really like the vibe those two bring - they are cool as hell and they are winners.

Did anyone else notice that D'Antoni told Billups to, "Do what you do." That line keeps coming up.

Some Swishing but not much dishing. Its gonna take a while.

In fact my expectations are low for the rest of the year. It takes time to build the movement back in. Billups is a good guard but they have to figure out what they got and how to make it work.

Not hating, just being real.

The talent is there.

Amare's offensive fouls was similar to the problems he had early this season.

Road trip coming and its not gonna be easy.

All wins are good wins.

I agree that learning how to facilitate more will help everybody. Amar'e does it sometimes, but this is more of an adjustment for Melo (although they both could use it). That said, the beauty of Fields is that he doesn't need a lot of touches.

we have a really good offense but yes our defense is still horrid... it's good to see that melo brings it on the boards... we're going to need ALL of that...

Hopefully they traded him for a case of Gatorade.

Balkman was MVP twice at Garden

NIT back to back years!!

MVP huh?

Balkman averaged 9.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game for the Gamecocks last season and was named the MVP of the NIT Championship as South Carolina won its second straight title in the tournament.

I hope he is traded. for a big.

I don't understand how he was included in the trade. In the past 2 years he has played in a total of 18 games, averaging less than 8 min/game. Balk has no outside shot. He has a $1.6 mil/yr contract for 2 more years after this one. Balkman was the first player traded when Walsh took over....for a 2nd round pick. I find it hard to believe that Walsh wanted him back.

Balkman was inactive tonight and will be for the rest of his career here.

Yeah, you're right... a 6 point win at home against a powerful Bucks' team with a gimpy center and no inside game, who were playing their second game in 2 nights should silence any doubters around here.

Yup.

All I know the Old Knicks Team prior to trade would have easily lost a game like this. One thing about the Scott Skiles Bucks team is they play hard and play great defense. Probably would have had at least 30+ 3 point chucks from Gallo, Chandler & Felton. What I saw was smart heady play in the clutch by Billups & Melo. We simply got easier shots. Points in the Paint were abundant.

Doc Rivers, Derek Harper.....That long ago.

I loved both of those guys but I think Chauncey might be a bit better. I was a big Jackson fan when Doc came and a big Doc fan when Derek came so there was an adjustment period for me. I am on board with Chauncey right now. He is a huge upgrade.

I loved Marky J , Harper , Rivers , Strickland and Now Mr big shot as my fav Knick PG in the last 30 years

It was sad when Doc blew out his knee, we were real lucky to get Harper. Anyone remember the commercial Jax and Strickland did together for MSG? I will try to dig it up.

Seem to recall that Rivers and Ewing played well together, and while not a 3 pt shooter, Doc was a very good midrange guy.

I've always wondered how we would have been that year with a healthy Rivers and Harper.

I think they wanted to send Al Buckets back but Donnie said no to this contract. Denver wanted some sort of bad contract and Balkman was as far as we would go.

Great game and I know Melo and Billups didn't have time to practice. They will get better.

Atlanta lost to Phoenix after sending Bibby to Washington.

Currently 4 games behind them for the 5th seed.

We could have just said "No!". We had agreed to so many other things. Someone on the Knicks wanted/agreed to take Balkman.

Pure speculation, bro, and between them, Melo and Billups were 14/37, which contributed to the closeness of the game.

Folks might want to step back and get a grasp on reality. Much too early to make statements like some are voicing after beating a Bucks team that is 22-35 and 8-22 away.

Billups seemed to assume floor leadership almost from the start. If you didn't know this was his first game with the Knicks you would have thought he was the team's captain.

Hope he stays hungry- we're going to need him to allocate the ball sharing between Melo and Amare.

This is why I was impressed with this game. Melo was letting nerves/excitement get to him early. He started the game 4/13, missing tip ins and layups he would normally make (even with the foul). If he makes these shots, the game's not that close.

I have some concerns about the team's depth going forward, but I am not concerned about Melo finding his shot.

Speculation indeed..watching the team all season "in my opinion" they don't usually win these grind out games versus teams that play tough defense. The shots Melo missed were quality shots. Less wild possessions and more shots in the paint. I like that formula better then the jump shot after jump shot type games. Between the Knicks Big 3 they got to the line 26 times. Reality is we are better, smarter and more composed team post-trade.
