From the guy who tried to argue that Brownie's resume was impressive. Evidently, even Bush didn't think so.

Your posts have become ridiculous.

I dare you to find where I said he had an impressive resume. I pointed out that he has done more in his life than cheer for Arabian horses. Nice attempt at spin though.

So your point is that you posted his resume in an attempt to defend him because you thought his resume was unimpressive?

Um...K.

Nope, just showing how alot of you posters conveniently ignore other information.

The information you posted, which, in retrospect, I too generously called puffery, proved that he was unqualified to head FEMA, as his performance during the aftermath of the hurricane proved.

Consequently, I didn't ignore anything. The passage of time has shown that my posts were spot on.

The only person who ignored anything is you. That is, you were either unwilling or unable to acknowledge that Bush had appointed a hack to head FEMA.

It's the only way he can defend Bush at this point; to pretend a logical critique is absurd.

Well, one of the reasons the hurricane did the damage it did was the lack of leadership and planning from the "barely functioning retard". I can't take Dan Savage seriously about anything--he's not the person I look to for wisdom in a time of crisis.

Knight, weren't you the guy who was calling himself a philosopher when you joined this board?

Exactly what philosophy are you espousing in your political and social views here?

Curious about what views you subscribe to, who your major influences are, etc.

I'm not espousing any philosophy or political or social views--I'm only trying to show more than one side of an issue. You read into my post that I'm pro-Bush or pro-that but I'm really just trying to look at all sides.

I'll take you at your word but your posts do read like someone who's going quite far to defend Bush. Is that your purpose? Is it not something you really feel but instesd an attempt to balance out what you see to be excessive anti-Bush sentiments?

Yep, just trying to balance out the extreme anti-Bush sentiments because I feel it's wrong--but I was sympathetic towards going to war.

What's your motivation for balancing it out? And why do you think it is that he's inspired the magnitude and intensity of sentiment against him that you read here?

My motivation is that people don't know a good argument from a bad one and believe too much of what they want to believe or can be persuaded by bad arguments. I don't think it's rare for people to have such dislike for a president, politics is always full of harsh criticism. Any bold action by the president, like war, is destined to piss off alot of people who don't back his decision.

knight - you make a good point on why you try to balance the argument.

everyone, for the record, i'm pro-aids, rape, murder, and slavery. i think those issues need some balancing out also.

Granted but didn't this guy gain a remarkable degree of global consensus on his decision to invade Afghanistan and drive out the Taliban? Why then did the same world opinion so strongly disagree on his decision to invade Iraq? If, as you say, any bold action by the president, like war, is destined to piss off alot of people, why the support for his first decision and condemnation for his second?

As far as Iraq goes, for one, they were violating UN sanctions--now look at the oil-for-food scandal and the countries who were illegally profiting off of Sadam's corrupt regime--you wonder why they didn't support us? Why do people think other countries don't have corrupt leaders? Why is "world" opinion supposed to be the correct one?

...but didn't the US violate UN/International policy by invading Iraq in the first place?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

It's because we claimed falsely that we were invading them to capture weapons of mass destruction. We weren't invading them for violating UN sanctions regarding oil-for-food.
