Yea that was going down as an all time duel. Worth noting we were up 7 when he got injured. Brunson won the duel and Tatum missed a couple to give us breathing room.

KAT held up in the second half, refs swallowed their whistle a bit and let him bump a little bit and on the perimeter and Thibs seemed to remove any bit of “recover” from his strategy and did a full blown switch at any sign of a screen. That’s the way it has to be to limit confusion on the rotation and help schemes. And KAT is either gonna hold up like he did on the second half or get in foul trouble but it seems like the only way to limit the 3 point barrages.

Celtics are the master of bumping, hip checks and the like but it’s usually w stout guards and refs seems to let that slide. KAT is big and he doesn’t get the same whistle. Until very late in the game Boston had like 26 FT to Knicks 10 even though Knicks were in the paint and celts were living on the perimeter. Eventually they swallowed their whistle but still made nuts calls like Hart for blocking because his stance was too wide

After watching Detroit and a team like Indy I have a lot of respect for Boston. They never whine in post games, they don’t taunt or talk **** on the court. They are all about business and I respect it.

Yea Mitch has shown he can’t have an incredible impact in a playoff series. This has been one of those series. Even in a bench role he’s dominating his minutes.

I agree - though Bill Simmons as guilty as anyone for creating the Brunson flopping narrative. The team themselves does act like they have been there. I don't have anything negative to say about Jayson Tatum's personality. He is high character and a great player that makes incredibly tough shots and does a little bit of everything. A really bad thing for the league if its an Achilles and he has to miss next year.

Knicks Celtics games were spread out, so we agonized all year about whether we could beat them, whether we should figure out how to avoid them in round 2, etc. Now we are up 3-1 - this is actually beyond my most optimistic scenario. Need to stay focused - the opportunity we thought we had last year is staring us in the face this year.

OG had the loose ball and was going in for a dunk to make it 9

I like that Mitch is starting to get a few roll ally opps from Brunson. Once Mitch works out those hands of stone that will be another angle that will have to be defended.

GOOD MORNING KNICKS FANS!!!

First thing I did this morning in a panic was check my phone and make sure I didn't dream last night and holy **** yesterday really happened! We FINALLY won a playoff game at the Garden and also won on that putrid network ESPN!!!

Another chapter written in the Jalen Brunson story and it was another exhilarating performance! That 3rd quarter he had putting the team on his back and bringing them back down 14 was incredible. The Cap with 18 points and finished with 39 total and even had 12 assists! This guy as our PG and leader is the equivalent of a daily threesome with Sydney Sweeney and Jessica Alba with no restrictions! He's so freaking good and I still cannot believe he's on our team!

Mikal is also writing his own story. Another 4th quarter where he decides to channel his inner MJ and go on a middy barrage! 10 huge points in that fourth quarter! So happy for this guy. He doesn't look the part of play the style of game that reflects what we normally like in a player but you have to give him credit cause he's stepped up in these playoffs. But he's got to stop sagging so deep and leaving White open for those threes! This is not the team where you send help!

Kudos to KAT too for that gutsy game! Broken finger and all and he battled with 23 and had that nice block. I loved how he rebounded the ball too. He was extra bouncy and held his own against Tatum on some of those Iso's. Great bounce back game from OG too. I got scared when he went to the locker room with the hammy but thankfully he came back and he seemed fine. He hit some huge shots in the fourth and had that pivotal steal and dunk where Tatum got hurt.

Hats off to the bench! Mitch was a monster! 5 offensive rebounds and was just everywhere on defense in that fourth quarter! Great coached game by Thibs masterfully subbing Mitch out before Mazulla can start the lame hack-a-Mitch.

Too bad for Tatum. We all well know what this feels like having injuries at the worst possible time. Went through it with Ewing in 1999. Shit happens! I just hope the media doesn't discredit this gutsy Knicks win cause the game was decided by the time Tatum got hurt but if they want to keep doubting us, go a-****ing-head! We are one win away from the ECF! But the series is not over! Even with Tatum out, ending the Celtics season is going to be extremely hard! Thankfully we get 3 cracks at it!

Yeah Mitch got fed a cpl more times where he totally fumbled or he could have made a bigger impact. His spacing from the dunker spot alongside Deuce's shooting seemed to give Jalen and Mikal more room to operate....

That or we just made tough shots. I dunno!

Yes, Boston does keep it classy and focused.
Was happy to see fans were clapping when Tatum got helped off the court.

Nalod a bit under the weather these days and found the first half intolerable in real time. I put on another program then came back to it the game via DVR.

Knicks are for sure defeating the odds. I suppose Silver is a part of this too?
Or the fact teams that win chips in some time don't advance to conf. finals!

Tatum was absolutely killing it. I was going to write Boston should get Flag and perhaps trade Tatum as he could command both Flag and other assets. The looked like a Torn achilles. Players are pretty good about pain but that dude looked in bad shape and despondent.

Maybe it’s because we had the game wrapped up but I was very disappointed and a bit sad watching Tatum get hurt. I’m glad it makes advancing from here easier but that was hard to watch and accept even as the opponent.

I got taken to the game as a client yesterday. My sales coverage is a huge Boston fan and was more or less slandering Tatum the whole game, while I was watching Tatum in complete awe of that shotmaking. Totally didn't understand his view - he and apparently a lot of Boston fans think that Tatum makes a lot of lucky shots - I said you can turn it around and say Tatum is probably the best difficult shot maker in the league, especially when he gets going. Anyway same guy thinks Brunson is a flopper so to each his own.

That was a total prize fight, back and forth in the second half....first Tatum and Brunson just making shots on both ends and then Tatum and Bridges trading blows. He summoned up a game for the ages - we were defending him perfectly and he was just making shots. We finally got a couple of stops and him and we didn't stop making our shots. I think I read that we had an offensive rating of like 150+ in the 2nd half of the game, and we shot over 60% in the 2nd half? Just one of the most amazing halves of basketball we have seen from this team in a huge moment.

to beat Boston THAT way was really special. Outdueling their best player and hitting them with what we do best... Brunson burner and WE CLOSE.

Wow have the Knicks becomes the best closing team?

I think so. Brunson is a killer and just knows when it's time to give his team a cushion late in the game. He delivers damn near 100% of the time. And our defensive closing unit with Deuce and Mitch is as good as any. I am feeling we have the horses to close out any close game now, as long as we have the appropriate timeouts we have the guy who will give us a lead and the defensive unit that will get us a stop.

Payne has sucked donkey balls

Same for Celtics though without Houser -- basically KP/Pritchard with a couple of minutes to Kornet

OG is almost as good a defensive closer as Brunson is an offensive closer. I think that's an underrated aspect of us winning close games down the stretch. OG gets stops/creates turnovers. Now Mikal has been joining on that on both ends!

The Mitch/KAT pairing hasnt looked too bad either.

its crazy I really underestimate Ihart, because if we had Ihart/Randle and Divo instead of KAT I think we are a better team. But... that just wasnt possible.

I get KAT is spazzy and tough to watch but he was a star in the 2nd half. When Tatum finally started missing it was on long jumpers that KAT was staying true on. You know they target him and he responded really well in the 2nd half.

With Bridges making these easy mid range 2s we are a nightmare team to close against.

We are literally built to close games.

Yep. This kid makes me laugh and cry.

When he plays with energy, crashes boards, moves his feet on D, slams a few lobs, kicks out the ball after an offensive rebound and just lurks around the hoop defensively --- he's a force that other teams just don't want to deal with.
