Okoru does kind of suck, especially in big games, but he can help during the season, plays a ton of games, and maybe has some upside.

He's a good guy to be OG insurance. When OG is healthy that guy might not even play. When OG is hurt he probably gets thrust into a sizable role. Hard to find guys who fit that scenario where you don't have to play them every night but they can do a good job being OG-lite when they do play for stretches. Okoro makes sense. I think rookies also make sense for that role.

Frank can defend multiple positions, and I think he can hit an open 3 better on this team that actually moves the ball. and he's fine being a 12th man. and of course he's vet min. plus he can handle the ball a bit too.

Curious where frank pops up next year if at all in the NBA.
Aside, the rise of the French and Canadian players is really quite interesting.
That CHina, with a BILLON more people have yet to build on the popularity of Yao Ming.
THe NBA Acadamy in Africa is also producing opportunities. David Sterns vision of a global game is coming to light over time. Rise in revenue is a big factor. Global growth and new revenue streams are impressive.

I don't think there was obsessive dislike for him. He just plainly sucked for an 8th pick. It was pretty clear. Zero offensive game. Was supposed to be a PG, couldn't initiate an offense AT ALL.

Of course there was obsessive dislike for him. Although my theory is its misplaced Phil hate.

It's not "dislike/hate" if he objectively sucked. It's just facts not emotion.

I am on the other side here. I think OKC won this deal. Caruso is a great All-NBA defender. Chicago should have asked for a 1st rounder as well.

its a Win/win... OKC got what they needed too, a piece that fits them better and they are flush with young talent. But people acting like CHI got fleeced are nuts, Giddy in a vacuum is a much better player/asset than a 31 year old oft injured Caruso.

Giddey is still 21 and has been a triple double machine already. The Thunder took the strategy of loading up with young talent regardless of position to see who might flourish. Now Giddey is a bit of an odd man out, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have star potential. To get him for a guy like Caruso - although a very valuable role player, is a no brainer for a middling team like Chicago, who basically just got back a 21 yr old core piece.

But they are trying to blow it up. They have contacted 15 teams for Lavine and have no takers

Right, plus their pick in upcoming 2025 draft is top 10 protected, so they may be inclined to lean a certain Dallas circa 2023 kind of way.

On ihart it is known that he instantly goes home to houston after the season ends but he did not go to houston until 1 to 2 weeks later this time. Pretty obvious they were negotiating his new deal even though they were not allowed to. So they will do as much as possible to make it not obvious.

Giddy could be lightning in a bottle though, worth the swing for Chicago.
