So check this out, this is the first year I have noticed that both Shams and Woj are purposely mentioning agent names in their tweets. Interesting

A few of the local TV networks have all made the same comment in the last 30 minutes >>>>>>" Got a feeling the Knicks ain't done yet ".

Agents and shoe contracts were the biggest part missing from my FA analysis.

@ smackeddog- you were right on Lowry. I'm trying to see the sliver lining on that.

This could also be a reaction from the Bucks Bogdanovic debacle last season. By saying it's the agents all sides are protected.

With the contracts in the books a possibility of a superstar trage is still alive. Now that is the only way yhe knicks can get a superstar. Next year will be rough other east teams loaded up and improved even just with the eye test. Hopefully the knicks can still be competitive and get to the play-in tournament.

Bold predictions, towards the end of the season next year Duece may take over the starting point guard and Grimes will see significant playing time as well

Bold predictions: next year the Knicks miss the playoffs, yet that is only good enough for a #14 pick. Perry gets fired and gets to kick back for a year with phil in montana and enjoy his free $$$$ courtesy of dummy dolan. Leon Rose is fired the following year and retires to a mansion in France, courtesy of Comsport, Fournier's agency which cashed in on his rich deal. Fournier plays an average of 40 games per year for the Knicks before being bought out and stretched Noah-style. But not before Frank Ntilikina, now playing for Dallas, slams a big one right in his face and screams: "Voila!!!"

I think the Noel deal makes sense if we're seeing him as a starter/ future starter, which I suspect we are- don't feel confident about Mitch's future with us

Any news on if Rose's contract is all guaranteed? Any team options on the third year? I'm guessing the Bulls were offering him round about what they gave Caruso (4yrs $37mil).

Also presume the Mavs were willing to go what they gave Bullock for Noel.

Not trying to troll anyone, but unless we get some upside growth out of RJ, IQ, Robinson and the guys we drafted, I don’t see what we did to move forward vis a vis what other teams did like Chicago & Miami.

And last year we got lucky with production value out of guys like Rose, Burks, Bullock, Noel- now they are largely retained at greater cost- certainly I don’t feel overpaid.

It’s based only on speculation fueled by some media, but it does seem like the plan was to get a few more assets and hope to have enough for a trade.

I feel similarly. The Burks contract surprises me as I felt they could have replaced his production offensively. Something to be said about establishing a core team framework to build from. Cant really say much until we have a starting PG.

I don’t think it’s unfair to say these guys would have gotten MLE offers at 9.7. The Knicks giving them the same value out of cap space feels like a slight overpay, but not really.

I worry most that the only room for growth going forward is the MLE and the draft. I don’t really see high upside growth from our prospects - we’ve drafted older players that are more “nba ready” and less growth/development players.

In short, I expected this year to be about establishing the core going forward, I just thought the core would have more upside potential.

You know I gonna spin wit it

I think that you're right. Getting upside growth from quickly and Barrett is exactly the idea in the absence of a high impact player market in free agency. The Knicks need upside growth from their three best young players, and Randall and Robinson specifically are essentially on auditions to see if the Knicks can grow this because they only have one year left on their deals. I think Fournier, Burks and Noel are very steady performers and those contracts can be moved in the worst case scenario.

The thing to remember is that most of the extra assets are still here. Chicago and Miami have traded a lot of draft Capital to get lower end all stars over the past few years and have to go all in to win now. The Knicks don't really have the talent to make that choice but are in position to move for it as long as they're steady performers don't underperform the new contracts.

The fact that those guys are coming back to a coach they played well for and a spot in the rotation makes it less likely that they will lose value.

There is upside on the roster - full season of Mitch, an Obi that understands game speed, more consistency from IQ, maybe some playmaking/shotmaking from Vildoza. Grimes I think is underrated as a knockdown shooter and could actually be a big contrubutor etc. But I think there's a lot of pieces and a few of them are gonna get stacked for a trade.

We will be deep

why are people talking so much about Chicago? they've been worse than us as far as FO goes. People are thinking Lonzo is finally going to be the guy people expected coming out of UCLA. I know of the adage that even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, but look at their recent history in drafting and trades as context. I suspect before year's end there will be huge buyer's remorse

smart beats sexy
