Until this hits red states it won’t resonate for a host of reasons. Change rarely comes unless pain is felt.
Obama said “there is consequences to elections”. I know Hilary was not a good candidate but Trump is a different kind of bad.
Sometimes you have to vote the lessor of two evils.
Who would give us the most effective, humane, response to this Pandemic, while keeping profiteers in check? Trump,Clinton,or Sanders? We were foisted with "two evils".
No doubt Bernie but we’d be safer with Hilary then the guy who is measuring his ratings during a national crisis. Hilary might have been arrogant and out of touch but she was not a tax dodging grifter promoting false narrative so grandiose it actually was effective. Failed casino’s, airline, steak company and university. Why is his tax returns so bad he can’t show them? His administration has been a shambles of idiocy and self preservation and obsession with Obama and popularity then humanistic governing.
History will judge him as it has others. I hope I survive long enough to see it. I fear the end of his administration won’t be the end of it.
You have to be real lazy to get outworked by the laziest president ever, good gravy. Had a feeling Trump would be a **** show, like you I grew up in the city in the 70s and 80s. On the other hand we have decades of "****-showery" from Clinton. The body count from the wars she supported and pushed hard for, are in the hundreds of thousands. The count of all the people she had locked up along with her husband, among others, is in the millions. As are the people who lost their homes or jobs through the economic, Wall Street friendly policies she advocated. There is friendly, and Friendly.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, there were countless "deaths of despair" from millions of Russians losing their jobs, not to mention their pride, self worth. In the wake of the great recession, Anerica experienced the same phenomenon. You can draw a line to this misery, right back to the the Clintons and "Triangulation". They got done what no Republican could even dream of, because once Dems really stood up for the little guy.
I live in a blue state. Clinton didnt need my vote. If I was in a state that could have gone either way. I honestly dont know what I would have done back then, knowing what I know about the good Senator.
And this is the exact reasoning we have the dumbest president around. The dumbest administration in history. Hundreds of thousands dying. Millions unemployed. Retirement money demolished. Sitting in our homes.
Let's repeat what you also should have known at the time: "Hilary might have been arrogant and out of touch but she was not a tax dodging grifter promoting false narrative so grandiose it actually was effective. Failed casino’s, airline, steak company and university. Why is his tax returns so bad he can’t show them? His administration has been a shambles of idiocy and self preservation and obsession with Obama and popularity then humanistic governing."
It's a toss up for you then and still now in retrospect?
Read it again, I didnt say in retrospect. I said with the information I had at the time. Big difference. I am impressed that voting for a politician who had a large role in pushing for wars that led to the deaths of hundreds of thousand of human beings. Who helped make us the biggest jailer on earth. Who played an outsized role in the loss of millions of jobs, millions, of homes. Inflicting countless misery. Who has a track record in politics spanning decades of historically bad choices to be a "no brainer".
Not even a moments pause that all that death, destruction, Clinton had a large role in inflicting not just on Americans but the world would come back in a big way. Her choices have been not just bad for America, but historically bad. Not so easy for me to say "meh". Even with the prospect of somwone as scary as Trump becoming president. Clintons's record as a politcian was very long and very bloody.
The debate on whether Clinton would have better president is a moot one given everything that we are witnessing. Hillary no doubt has had her hands in some “stuff”...but the role of a president and their administration is to lead us thru tough times like these. If it was not for the competency of much of the state and local govt we would have a “fear of the walking dead” moment on our hands.
But honestly at this point...the city that I was born in...grew up in....went to school in(undergrad to grad) is being f**king decimated....so in my mind it is pointless to argue merit of Hillary vs Trump...that is “spitting in the wind” right now....
No President is going to be perfect...but the least thing you expect is competence...or for they to hire competent people...the MF’er is conman....unable to admit He F’ed up....still blaming Obama and everyone else but himself....and guess what...when this thing is finally slowed down and they bulldozing bodies from our healthcare facilities....you know who he will blame next.....YOU.....claiming you did not do the social distancing that he mandated in “JAN”.....YOU.....lied about the ventilators YOUR city needed and YOU we selling them out the back for 50%...because that is what he would do....he will lie cheat steal to paint his own picture so....I leave with this ....this election does have a consequence...and unlike most elections but uncannily like the one in 2008....we have the ability to see what is on the line right before our eyes...
To all those that have lost loved ones in this fight...are sick..family might be sick...lost jobs....going through difficulties....I do not know what your religious persuasion is....but I will be praying for you...not sure how else to put it...it may not seem like much...but it is the best I have at the moment...
