the knicks winning formula is clearly based upon the dallas mavericks title-winning model. the key is how closely melo emulates dirk. when melo plays the right way-- something we have seen in more than several of the last dozen games or so-- his advanced numbers closely resemble dirk's. not quite so good as dirk's in the playoffs that year but certainly close enough.
I partly agree. He needs to trust his teammates more and ball movement allways leads to better shots even if the shot taker ends up being Melo (after a couple of good passes).
To his credit, last night he showed up will all heart and grit and took a great shot at the end in an attempt to pull out the game.
I also saw him make some great passes out of the double teams that ended up in clanks, especially in the 4th quarter.
I am really proud of 19 rebounds. Does he need to pass more? Sure.
I really did not like the JR after jawing with Nate the Nasty felt that he had to go school yard and ignore his teammates just to release testosterone. Looks off Melo who had great post position and herky jerks himself into a fall away 3. Not cool.
JR, if he only would move the ball more, he would be unstoppable. Its so damn frunstrating that he refuses to recognize his (full) potential.
Teams know that JR and Melo do not really like to pass out of the double teams unless they have no way of figuring out how to hoist. Teams know this and will defend accordingly. We need to keep defenses honest.
Melo also played solid defense especially on that play at the end of regulation.
