Rumor from who?

A buddy I know in Houston called me and told me he heard it on a Houston radio station.

How is that even possible, given that Lin signed the offer sheet? You can't match and trade, can you?

The rumor is that the offer sheet would be withdrawn and then the trade would happen instead. Not sure
how much validity is in it, just thought I'd pass it along.

The offer sheet can't be withdrawn, it was already signed by Lin.

And if it could be withdrawn then we should look to do the same for Melo and Amare.

marc stein says we have til tues 11:59pm to match Lin's offer. Is that true or does the 3 day countdown start after the Knicks finally receive the offer sheet?

I heard the Knicks have the offer sheet. It was delivered to their hotel in Vegas. Not sure where I read that, but that could be why we have til Tuesday to match.

Yeah, I'm going to hold out some hope here too, although I don't know what Dolan would be thinking signing 3 PGs who all had starters' minutes last year.

We ended the season with no pgs, so having a surplus is not a bad thing

Resigning Lin doesn't suck for the Knicks until yr 3. That being said, getting ray, Kidd and the Italian makes it look like the Knicks are moving on.

that said, houston thinks it can buy linsanity. it can't. linsanity is ours. forever. houston is likely buying a lottery team next season.

Don't give up on Lin just yet. There are all sorts of reports that the Luxary tax is the issue that forces us to part ways with Lin. But after the third year, we will have $76M coming off the books the following year. We'll be able to start over completely. I see this more about Fields than Lin. Knicks were considering matching the Raptors offer sheet if no alternative at SG could be found. Felton/Kidd will share time at the SG behind JR. The Knicks have no back up at the SG and no money to get another competent SG. Knicks WILL match Lin's offer sheet.

I don't think that it's the luxury tax, I believe that's a smoke screen. I personally believe that Dolan's upset that Lin used some power to show up Dolan and the Knicks a little bit and we're just repeating the same mistakes that led to the Sprewell for KVH trade.

Check out these tweets. Tide is turning, reports are that Knicks will match offer and/or somehow orchestrating a move for Chris Paul.

InsideHoops.com InsideHoops.com ‏@InsideHoops

Source tells InsideHoops the #Knicks still might match Rockets offer and keep Jeremy Lin

Alex Kennedy Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA

The Knicks may still match Jeremy Lin's offer. The Raymond Felton acquisition was unexpected, but Lin returning is still a possibility.

Frank Isola Frank Isola ‏@FisolaNYDN

And one more thing. I still say this somehow goes back to Chris Paul. There may just be a method to the Knicks madness

Kidd is pass first and pass always. he plays on the perimeter and only shoots if he has an open 3.

don't you think playing next to a score first guard who drives the lane all the time might be a decent fit for him?

I say starting Lin and Kidd next to each other is a good move.

It probably won't happen, Knicks will prob let Lin go. But I think Kidd/Lin would be a great backcourt.

yeah. when spolestra was asked why the Heat signed Ray Allen when they are clearly loaded at SG and SF with wade, bron, battier, etc, he said "we're trying to collect basketball players. we're thinking less about positions and thinking about basketball."
