STAT is the worst defender on the floor today....He's too slow to guard PF's.....To small to guard Centers.

Its been like this ever since MDA was hired. He's had a ton roster turn over by your own admission and noen of them seem to play defense for him.

it's the team concept on defense that's the problem.

tyson chandler anchored an excellent matchup zone for the mavs. this switching every screen gimmick is what mike woodson did in atlanta - and it kinda worked there because all his players were 6'8"... here? it looks horrible.

you guys can't keep leaving the players off the hook. melo never gets any blame from anybody on here. These guys are pros they should know to to box out, move the ball and drive to teh basket. Now i am not defending d'antoni in fact i am always critical of him because he just focuses on offense but stop sain the players are gret and its just teh coaches. when i played bad i didn't blame the coach i blamed myself and i made adjustments

I always defend douglas. Now i am honest when it comes to his skill at the pg which is very limited but he is not the reason we are getting killed. the whole team except shumpert just cares about shooting threes, not defending, not rebounding. Also Chandler has been less than impressive

You will be surprised what one competent pg can do for a team on both ends of court

We need a new PG and a new Coach. Those are 2 of the biggest components in dictating team pacing/hustle/energy.

i've been wondering about melo. he's kind of a team chemistry killer. he's a total ballstopper and takes everyone out of the flow when he's hot.

knicks traded away something more important than young talent in the melo trade - they traded team chemistry. chemistry is so elusive and the knicks gave it away.

when the other team plays zero defense except when one player in on the floor(shumpert) it helps the other shoot better from the field

the lack of effort of a team as a whole defensively and no pg has this team looking horrible. the notion that the knicks coaching staff "not coaching defense" is still laughable to me. yeah, the 3's are a problem, but when you look like **** offensively, that's what tends to happen. you settle.

It is all on the coach to have these guys prepared to know what to do on switches. To know how to defend the pick and roll better. We get exposed on the pick and roll. They are doing a ****ty job of showing and rotating.

This is a selfish set of players who do not trust one another, led by a player (Douglas) who sets the tone by looking for his shot above all else.

I miss Derrick Brown.

Exactly. i mean i dont understand why many of our fans get pissed when someone says that we didn't get the better of the trade. Look melo is one of the best offensive players i never doubted that. but he doesn't get others involved despite being a good passer, he doesn't defend, and he takes poor shots many times instead of working it to others

PATIENCE!!! It's the 6th game of the season. This team is going to get better. I know it's frustrating, but you have to keep things in perspective.

Ya D'antoni deserves blame but look at miami. their coach is not great but those three stars they have despite being jerks have great skills on both sides of the court
