That would seem to all but officially close the door on Larry Brown joining the Knicks — but this being Larry Brown, there's still enough intrigue in the air to keep it ajar.

The whole business about Isaiah wanting Phil Jackson, Nate McMillan and Larry Brown was a fraud. He knew right from the start that neither of them would come to New York. What Isaiah has wanted all the time is a coach who he could control - someone who would let him name the assistants; someone who would run the team the way he wanted; and someone who he could easily push aside when he thought the time was right for him to coach again.
