Getting Dampier after trading for Q would make me hate Zeke. You get a run and gun player, and then you get a C who slows it down. PLease don't go near Damp.
Unfortunately, that thought also came screaming into my head. Especially with the contract he just got...hell, he'll be way overpayed, even in comparison to the rest of the roster.

look at it this way fellas, we'll have a young core of:

marbury
craw
Q
ariza
sweets
#8, #30, #54

and if we get boozer, then him also.

that's not bad in a COMPLETE overhaul. does that team win championships? probably not.

We should only concentrate on getting a center via the MLE because the good C's aren't going to be moved, and the bad C's, well, ARE BAD! How could you want Dampier after what you saw last season? Man!

Hmm, wonder what would Isiah do if a guy like Green or Granger fell to the 8th pick...

I like it. Older talent for young talent. Q is 25/26, we know he can score and shoot the 3 and post a little. He might even be better on a team like the Knicks than one where most of his offense comes from 3's.

Question is, will he be an SG or SF primarily. He's a strong 6-6 230 and can grab about 6 boards per.

The issue with Q-Rich? Another lackluster defender with poor shot selection. Shares that problem with Crawford.

We'll see if this happens or not. The earliest we'll hear whispers is probably the draft...

This could be a great thing for Bynum lovers: if Isiah is really fixed on selecting the best Center prospect avaliable and someone before us takes Frye, then, guess who would probably be coming to town?

Good point...I didn't expect to go into the draft almost wishing we could swap picks with Golden State.

Why would this be pending prior to the draft?

It makes no sense. If it's consummated after the draft, then that's a different story. We have no guarantees who we end up with. If Frye is
gone, we pick up Granger or Wright.. Q makes no sense whatsoever. That is unless Bynum is our Plan B...

hmm...

Nothing has been reported. Is this trade really for real? Is it a trade what will be announced on draft night?

the trade just got a little worse:

QRich Dealt To Knicks For Kurt Thomas
23rd June, 2005 - 2:49 am

RealGM - RealGM.com's Christopher Reina has learned that Quentin Richardson will be dealt to the Knicks in exchange for Kurt Thomas and a future conditional number one draft choice. This deal is pending league approval and should be announced following Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Thursday.

The deal was confirmed to Reina by a source close to the trade negotiations.

There was little doubt that one of the Suns’ five starters from the 2004-2005 season would not be back for the 2005-2006 season and Richardson is the player who that Bryan Colangelo and the Suns have decided to move. The move will clear room for the Suns to re-sign restricted free agent Joe Johnson.

Thomas is signed through the 2009 season, while Richardson, whose game overlaps with Johnson, is signed through the 2009 season as well and the Suns have a team option for the 2009-2010 season.

Richardson averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds per game in his first season in Phoneix. He made 226 3-pointers with the high-powered Suns, compared to 120 in his final season in Los Angeles.

Thomas, a 10-year veteran, gives the Suns a player who averaged 11.5 and 10.4 rebounds per game last season with the Knicks. He will allow Shawn Marion to slide back to the small forward position and Amare Stoudemire will have an easier time at center by playing beside a veteran power forward. [READ]

probably the spurs 2006 pick.

Whats that? The signature for all trades Knicks GMs make? Man!! Why can't we just hold on to picks! If it can't be done without picks, then no deal. Its not like Mr. Q makes us a contender right away. So how does the Nazr trade looks now?

i'm guessing it's the spurs pick next year, so we could POTENTIALLY be giving the suns BOTH our #1's next year.

We seem to help every team that deals with us, yet make no real progression. I hope the deal doesn't happen...

I desperately need to see what else Zeke has in store for this offseason before I can judge this trade. I'm still a little surprised.

With the draft coming in just some days, I think this trade, if made, should have been made after the trade. I can't see this a really good trade at all, at least how's reported.
