Kurt Thomas Maurivce Taylor (combined 40 million till their contracts expire) for Wally Sczerbiak Olowakandi #14 (52 million over their contracts and only about 6 million of that is olowokandi)
Anyway you slice it.....it's a good deal for the Knicks.

Agreed; Wally's a solid player. With him and Ariza, you're fine at SF for many years. Plus we get pick #14.
What would you like better, though. This trade or the proposal where we get Rose and pick #16 from Toronto? Rose has a better contract and is more versatile than Wally but Wally's younger and can be a solid player for more years. Obviously #14 is a slightly better pick than #16 too. I guess it really depends on whether you want Wally to be a core rotation player for many years or not.

I'd prefer Rose because I feel he can give you similar production with a much shorter contract. Rose is also much more versatile for our backcourt needs, he can play the 1,2,3. Wally is 3 and a lil 2. I also say that because I'd like Granger at the #8 and then a big maybe Petro or Bynum or Blatche at 16. There will be a good player at either spot so I would take the option that gives us the most flexibility.
Wally is good, but not great and he is very expensive. I'd take him, but only if he was bpa available for a pick and a trade.

If we are to make any trade for wally including the #14 this one is the best one. We take on only 10 million more over 4 years, we get the best player and we get a late lottery in a deep draft. AND we rid ourselves of 2 pf's from our roster. There is no reason why a move like this shouldn't make us much better, with the picks and an actual sharpshooter and a 7 foot backup stiff.
Here is another less hopeful scenario.
Wally Olowakandi #14
For Penny
trade id: 2427201
Kandi expires same time as penny. Money-wise it boils down to paying Wally 36 mill for 3 years or 12 mill per for his last years which is too much, but isnt the worst thing in the world, he is a good player, who would excel playing with Steph offfensively. Obviously we would have to tighten up our frontline considerably tho.
The true Knickabocker..........

Why not both?
I feel Rose is ready to lead a team to a championship. He's been there and is at the stage of his career where he wants to win. I'd like to get Rose to be the starter at the 2 with Marbs. Ariza and Wally can platoon the 3 with Craw on the bench backing up the guards. You can never have enough depth...especially during a 82 game season. That would be awesome.
Picks #14 & #16 would just be cake. The Knicks need a post threat so Taft could be picked along with Frye maybe. Antoine Wright could go here or maybe Julius Hodge.
I think that could develop into something special....besides that the Knicks would have the youth to still make a "Sheed" type of trade to get the missing piece.
It's just some good BS to get your hopes up before the Draft. It's like a wet dream
