sorry for just now replying to your post, but allow me to say this...yes, I was in the military, but our system will not tolerate what Houston has been doing...Look here, if you can't make it because you are hurt, the chain of command will evaluate the situation and recommand that you get medically boarded out of the military. We are talking about one of the hardest job in the world, and one of the least paid gig in the united states. Look here, Houston collected twenty million dollars for doing nothing for a full season, he only played twenty two games out of eighty two.....If the rules were that he could only collect a pay check for the games that he played, I can almost guaranty you that Houston would have on the court for a full season....

werent you in the military? What if you got hurt and could no longer serve, should you be forced to return your paychecks?

Who really knows what this team needs? People always seem to love the next guy, until that guy doesnt do exactly what they think should be done. Herb wasnt a good in game coach last year. I dont think anyone will say he was, but he did have them playing hard every night and considering all the losing and overall retardation of the organization the team moral was pretty good.

Here's another news flash: Until Isiah proves he can run an organization this isnt a desirable job. Quite the opposite.

Am I supposed to have a problem with his comments? Allan was just backing Herb, the guy who he thinks deserves another shot coaching the squad.
You are not supposed to have a problem with the comments, you are supposed to have a problem with a guy that barely played telling the fans and the management who he wants to play for. How many games and mins/game do u expect him to play for us next season?
Just because he isn't playing right now doesn't take away his right to say something about the franchise he's spent the last 9 years of his career with.
it doesnt take away the right to the quote, it takes away the value of the quote.

Sorry, but what a load of crap. Do you not have TV? Did you not see Houston play? The man could not run.... a vital aspect of being a good basketball player. Its unreal how $$$ changes peoples perception of reality. The guy misses like 6 games in 7 years and gets a serious injury. He's got a progressive condition, the knee is arthritic. This isnt an apology, its reality. The guy couldnt play.

Why arent we all lamblasting Larry Johnson who bailed on us? So what if his back hurts. The guy stopped taking his meds that controlled the inflamation. So what if it was swelling his liver, if he took the drugs he could have played. What a pu$$y!

Seriously... lets get an idea about a player we dont like and discuss it as fact and attack his character.

Can someone that has cap knowledge tell us, does Houston retiring RIGHT NOW give the knicks cap relief?

If we didnt "lambaste" Larry Johnson for not taking his medication and not playing then we should have. If what you say is correct, that LJ stopped taking pills to keep inflamation down and play then he made a mistake. He didnt think he was making a mistake so he eventually got forced into retirement giving the knicks some cap room. Maybe thats why we stopped lambasting him.

Since Houston is following his own rehab routine which isnt working for almost 1 and half season, we should say something too. Once he retires, it will die down.
Seriously... lets get an idea about a player we dont like and discuss it as fact and attack his character.
I am not sure what you think this idea is that we got but from what I understand, he is injured. He is rehabbing in a way other than as directed by the corporate doctors and still taking a paycheck and hurting our cap. If the Knick doctors cannot treat him and the olympic guy that hasnt worked cannot do anything further, its time for him to leave.

If he is threatened by the way Knick doctors treat him, he can retire, get a large chunk and go to whoever he wants. That will honestly be better for him and the knicks.

If he however chooses to do what he wants, not play, rehab with the horse riding champions and still stay on cap, then its messed up.

Silver, he went to alternative methods when what he was doing didnt work. Look at that doctor's track record and tell me Houston is at fault for seeking additional help. On top of it remember they rushed him back last year and what happened? The knee wasnt strong enough and he got hurt again.

These guys are human.. that was my only point with LJ. Sometimes your body breaks down. Its up to teams to manage their rosters. Sometimes you cant predict stuff... Houston never had injury issues. Guys like McDyess and LJ did.

I just dont get the notion of attacking a player because a) he accepted money a team offered him and b) he got hurt and cant perform

Look here, stop making excuses for Houston. I feel bad for the fact that he had to go through what he went through, but in the same token, he is a heavy burden for the organization. Houston has failed to rebuild his game....Webb and many others have to change their styles to accomodate their injuries, but Houston still believe that he can be the best shooter in the game while he has no leg to support him. The fact remains that he is occupying a spot that a more capable player can actually jump in to provide some much needed support. Yes, it is not his fault that he has gotten the big contract, but the facts remain that he has not produced last season. My point is that he needs to keep his mouth shut, especially when it comes to who we need as our next head coach...In fact, he should be fired as our Captain...

He does not come off the books if he retires.

In injury means you can't talk? It was a quote from a player. Thats all.

Worry not, Im sure Isiah will do everything he can go rid himself of Allan.

Allan is not the least of our problems. ITs a shame really. His condition is real surprise and had a career that was very durable!

Isiah will posture for him to retire so at least dolan can get his 80% insurance payments of Allans salary.

The contracts, roster, and drafts picks all what they are and laying intangable blame is not gonna change a thing! Its kinda sad when we become fair weather friends for our players. Larry was right to take the money and disapear into the nite. Allan has done nothing but be a leader in the community, gives to charity, gives 100%, is true to his family and religion, and is a supportive teamate. Im sure nobody is dissapointed in is lack of progress, and frustrated over the decisions he made more than Allan.

BUt I guess someone always has to be of blame, and we always have to put a face on the things that we don't like!

With all the talents that we will have at our disposals in this draft, it really makes no sense what so ever for us to only have 3 picks....We need to get with the program...Comeon Zeke, we don't need no big trade, but just picks....Get us some more of that...

Then it doesnt matter if he sits on the bench or on a couch. I'd rather he just sit there and cost Dolan cause Dolan is just as responsible for our salary cap hell as Layden.

I just dont get the notion of attacking a player because a) he accepted money a team offered him and b) he got hurt and cant perform
If that was the case, I wouldnt understand it either. The problem here is that he is hurt, getting help from someone Zeke & the president of operations doesnt approve and it is still "hurting" the team. It would be unfair to attack someone for just signing a big contract and then being injured. I dont think its unfair to attack someone that refuses to admit his career is done and causes the team more grief.

With that said, his salary wont come off the cap even if he retires. Thats messed up so fuk that. As long as he doesnt take time away from Crawford and whoever we draft at SG, he is doing great! Let Houston stay and cost Dolan money. If he is on the bench, its the same as he is retired. I dont care how much Dolan suffers. Those street clothes look great Allan.

There's a reason I haven't posted on this thread. If you never heard of Allan Houston before, you'd think that he was a friggin' terrorist after reading some of the anti Houston comments on this thread. I don't respond to crap.

I was just as critical of him as anyone, when he came back dawg. He may be my fav player, but I am not blinded either. A few select others, on the otherhand, are.

My biggest problem with Houston beeing on the bench as opposed to on the beach is he is taking up a valuable roster spot that could be used to keep a long term prospect or someone who can actually contribute something to our progress. It's like we have an automatic one man disadvantage whenever we face any team. Roster spots are precious... your only allowed so many.

The owner needs to redeem himself by trying to undue what he did wrong when it comes to Houston. I know that if we buy him out it won't do us no good, but his presence alone is an issue. I would buy him out....This is a buziness after all....

Dolan, buy Houston out, trade kurt to another team for a early draft pick and hire a freaking coach other than Herb. You need to rebuild the N.Y legacy? this is the way to do it...Those three are really not the model citizens that we need to remind us of the past..

You don't make sense man. He's not a model citizen? Kinda like how he's done all sorts of charity work, is the teams spokesman (Ohh, I don't know why, b/c he's smart and actually knows what he's talking about?) was through many Knicks playoff battles, and increased his level of play during the playoffs and has hit tons of big shots? It's really amazing how some of the NY fans think. It's amazing how Houston has done more good and less bad than anyone else on this team, including Marbury, yet he's catching all this shyat, b/c he's not Kobe and b/c of his contract.

Houston is a cool guy, he's just done bball wise.

We're just frustrated that he seemed to make a couple of wrong decisions regarding his rehab.

The previous medical staff was senile, so I wouldn't trust them either, however, it's time to direct our venom at Dolan and not at Houston.

It's not his fault he got signed to a max deal, just like webber, TinyTim, mashburn, etc.

That era of players were just terribly overpaid, I believe it was the post jordan era when every team thought they had a chance with their current team makeup and decided to resign everyone to max deals.

In the end, it's the owners faults not the players.

Looking at TT's stats, he's never averaged more then 12 pts and 6 bds a game, why he ever was given a max deal, I have no idea, it used to be, you got the max money when you put out the max effort, not in anticipation of your maximum effort.

Houston was well worth the money at a time when Ewing was getting paid 50 million, Shaq is getting 30 million this year for what? and he's gonna get 35 mill next year, for what? to get to the eastern conference finals?

It's time for everyone to either a) count their losses and buy out the non contributors or draft young hungry kids and let them have fun, learn and prepare for taking over when the contracts expire.

Houston is not to blame, the owners post jordan over reaction is to blame.

Also, why is Detroit not over the cap?

We will be ok, we just have to suffer through this rebuilding period...Houston may play again someday (see Grant hill) and when he does, he will be the same old houston (like this years sixer game).

He just needs to come back when he's ready, and shut the eff up. =)
all kool aid all the time.
