I don't think there is a single possible deal that would convince me to take Dampier.

i kinda like the one Killa just posted, actually...i'd make that deal in a heartbeat.

It would have to be only Kurt for Dampier for it to work under the CBA since they both make $7mil

Kurt + Malik = $12mil...it does't work. It has to be Kurt straight up

what are you talking about? he had Marquis Daniels as part of the package.

yeah I noticed. read my previous post..

Dampier makes 7.8mm next year. The whole of his contract is bad because its so back logged.

Keep bad contracts in perspective. I can live with them if they clearly help us.

I'm willing to do this:
Kurt Thomas + Mike Sweetney for Dampier and Josh Howard.

Our starting line up would be
Marbury
Houston
Josh Howard
Mo Taylor
Dampier
with JYD, Ariza, Rose, Crawford and our draft picks on the bench.

Sorry but I make that deal

Damp is a stiff but he showed flashes of being a decent player- still-against a short team like the Suns, he should have done more.

I'd perhaps angle for an unrestricted 1st pick in say 07 or 08- take a chance that dallas will at some point take a step back and the talent level next year will probably be thinner if they institute an age limit.

well it comes down to a plan doesnt it. If we are going to for go any shot at cap space and work to improve via draft and trades then I think this is ok, only because I believe in Howard.

I think Dampier is a usefull system player, and call me crazy but I think he could benfit from Herb and Aguire. He clogs the lane, blocks shots and is great on the boards. He's athletic and can finish around the basket. I can live with the $$$ knowing I have on of the up can coming wing players in the league that comes with him. The trade balances the roster.

Dallas will offer Daniels or Stackhouse but **** them. Howard or bust. Thats an even deal. Otherwise just walk away

holy schnikeys - please, for the love of god, stay away from this guy. there is NOBODY outside of houston i would trade for this guy simply b/c his contract is DEATH.

his knees are all ragged up now, imagine 3 years from now, when we'd be paying him $10+ mil...

I'd rather suck for another year or 2 than have him.

Biggest lie I've read to date.

I say they have to take Rose or Mo T AND Kurt.

I would take that in a heartbeat. Sht, they may even have to fork over a future first round pick for us to do them this favor.

Our starting 5 would be:
Marbs, H20 (yep, I think he will be back), TT, Rose or MoT, Damp
bench: Sweets, Craw, Ariza, Picks.

A more futuristic look at our roster (after next year's trading deadline)

Marbs, Crawford, Ariza, Sweets, Damp.
bench: Who cares.

Ut oh...I'm optimistic again.

But in three years we can think about how much he will be worth as an ending contract in a trade three years down the line- think of the possibilities!!

They would not trade Howard, not given the production he has provided for him this season....Marquis has not played much, and most of all, they will want to keep Stack. I know that Josh has a much better contract, but Josh is not going anywhere...

Like you all, I hate bad contract, but once Houston, TT and Penny are off the book, we will be way under the cap with Damp's contract included...Think about it, we will have nothing but manageable contracts, especially with our draft picks...

I think 3 more years of Dampier versus Kurt plus the fact that we clear the glut at PF and hopefully improve the talent level of the team with a guy like Daniels or a 2006 1st round pick....forget about Josh Howard, they're not trading their best "lockdown" defender....I think it would be great for our future. If Bynum isn't an instant phenom we can afford to let him develop for a few years and eventually start with an older Damps as his backup.

On this rare occasion, I agree with Fish. The only way I'd take back Dampier's contract and give up Sweetney is if we could get Josh Howard. The more I see of Josh, the impressed I am.

OK, quick recap, we're willing to give up Rose and Kurt for Damp and Daniels?

We get a young shooting guard (possible starter?) to add to our back court and an Actual Center?

they get an out of position Kurt that would fit almost PERFECTLY in their system and Texas resident Rose?

for both teams, i say this is a no brainer.

if one of our draft picks turns out to be better than dampier, they will be making more money any way after 3 years and we have to max them out.

We are able to dump to big salaries and two expendable (sp?) PF's, clearing the way for MoT or Sweets to start at PF and reduce our dependancy (sp?) on H20 coming back?

I hate to say it, but I'm sold and appearently, so is RealGM.

Anyway we can pry a pick from them too, or is that being too greedy?

I'm not sure why sweetney is involved? Is it because the deal needs to be sweetened? I thought we were all high on sweets? Especially next to an actual center.

drop the notion that Dallas will just throw in Josh Howard. i think you guys are severely underrating his importance to that team. He can guard PFs as well as SFs whereas starting Stackhouse would't accomplish that nor would KVH.

they can afford to lose Daniels because he is redundant with Stack, terry and finley already there.

you're also underrating what Daniels could do for this Knicks team. He would start at SG right away as a 6'6 guard who actually plays defense and he can handle the ball, allowing Marbury to take a breather at SG. And he can run the floor! He's also a good shooter so we don't have to worry about drafting one at 8. Remember he averaged something like 27pts in the playoffs 2yrs ago! WE NEED A SG like him!!!

C-Dampier/Bynum
PF-Taylor/Butler
SF-TT/Ariza
SG-Daniels/Houston
PG-Marbury/Crawford

all the bases covered! Run and gun wing players, post up frontcourt players, athletic finishers inside, plenty of perimeter D and shot-blocking!!!

and a guy like Morris, Turiaf or McCants with the 30th pick and we're set!

are they willing to give up daniels or howard? i mean they could be thinking that these two are their future swingmen. remember finley and stack are getting up there in age. maybe they are thinking to keep both? as far as dampier, i would do it to get rid of our other pf's. any of them if we keep our eigth pick. then drafting splitter, taft or vasquez wouldn't be bad. better yet we would be able to draft the best available talent instead of being dead set on a big man. then green and granger are possibilities without much of an uproar. however, i am not crazy about his contract and age. he is 31 and by the time the contract expires he will be 37. picture another elden campbell or worse.

There is no need to get Dampier when Kwame Brown is available and every bit as good as Dampier. Just a matter of getting Kwame minutes on the court and making him comfortable.

no way, they are a wash and damp is easier to get.

How much do you think it'll cost to sign and trade kwame? probably around the same $$$ and we may lose an expiring deal to get him and end up keeping our 4 (or is it 6) PF's.

Whoever we get, they have to take two of our PFs.

Then I don't care who it is, dalambart (sp?), kwame or damps.
