I think Frye is no better a prospect than Travis Knight was coming out of college. He's skillful & perhaps 7 feet, but is soft. He's not strong enough to get position on the low box & is a poor rebounder.

That sums it up. Here's some stats comparing Frye with Ike Diogu a 6'8 junior forward who will go late in round one

PPG Rebounds Blocks
Frye 15.8 7.6 2.3
Diogu 11.6 9.8 2.3

Now I'm not suggesting we draft another power forward. I'm just pointing out that Frye didn't dominate as a college senior, so he's not worthy to be a lottery pick. He'll be a low scorer, a weak rebounder and he'll be lost on defense in the NBA.

I think Frye is a little underrated and he may have been somewhat of a system player. My knock on taking him is he's a low ceiling player to me. Like a Rasho Nesterovich type. He can be good and an important player, but not great upside.

agreed. hence he should be a #16-20 pick. If I had a pick in that range and needed a center I would have him go up against Petro in workouts and see who has a greater upside.

the difference between Petro and Frye is that Frye has a jumper, knows how to run a pick and roll, knows how to play D and knows how to block shots. Petro CAN do these things, but doesn't know how to play yet. Will he learn? MAYBE. That's the gamble.

Frye is athletic, big and smart. He didn't get a ton of shots at school, playing with Salim Stoudamire, but he did come up huge in the tournie. The only thing Frye lacks is strength, but you see he has a huge frame and we know he's a hard worker. Why do people doubt he can add strength, but then expect Petro to not only learn a new game but add strength? dude's skinnier than Frye. That's all I'm saying. I've only seen the clips of Petro that everyone else has. If Zeke has seen him in a workout and has reason to believe he's better than Frye, Blatche, Bynum, etc, than I'm fine with that, but I just don't believe it. To me, if I took anyone other than Frye, Bynum, Blatche, it better be Warrick or Taft.

I would be shocked if Isiah took Petro over Bynum and Blatche!
