the more I think about it the less upset I would be if he's a Knick (even at 8)

I agree that if KT can be swung for a midrange pick you gotta do it. I just don't think that we should spring for Warrick at pick 8 (as is being discussed in another thread). You gotta go with Petro or Taft that early. Ideal draft would be Petro at 8; Granger, Blatche or Warrick in that order at 15 (KT trade) and finally Deji Akindele from Chicago State at 30 and Salim Stoudamire or Julius Hodge with the second round pick (presupposing they're available then).

That I would call an excellent draft that would have a tremendous and immediate effect on us. Petro, Granger could be our Dalembert (who Phillys keeping) and Igudola. Blatche could be our Al Jefferson (who showed Indy what he could do yesterday), Akindele could be our Steven Jackson and finally Stoudamire or Hodge could be our Redd in development (I prefer Stoudamire because he's gonna keep the D honest with the range and consistency on his shot, the kids game is gonna bloom on the pro level). Also, does Hodges game remind anyone else here of one Mr. Sidney Moncrief (hall of fame player). That would be an A++++ draft.

You guys are forgetting that Wade was NOT considered a no-brainer at the draft. He was considered a question mark. He could have been another Dennis Hopson. No one projected him to be what he is now.

Really? I remember everyone thinking he was going to be all-star caliber after his triple double in the ncaa tournie. not as great as he is, but all-star caliber.

I love the Warrick pick. At this rate the guys I want who will be available boil down to Warrick, Splitter or Frye.

I'm pretty sure I remember there being question marks about whether he was the type of guy who maxed out his talent in the college game but won't take it to the next level in the pros. Now what is interesting to me now is the view on McCants. I know it seems sacreligious to compare him to Wade, given what Wade's become, but isn't McCants the kind of guy who could really bust out in the pros? Ater all, he did subjugate his game to blend in with 3 other 1st-rounders and win an NCAA title.

What are we waiting for? Lets trade KT already! Bring on that first rounf pick. And I said first round pick, not another old veteran with a big contract. A Pick!

this topic seems to have resurfaced. Unless one of these HS kids is totally off the charts I'm passing and hoping we draft this guy. Briggs had mentioned considering taking a guy like Travis Outlaw if he was in this draft. Who is more athletic than Warrick? Talk about infusing an old team with youth this is spark plug. There is definatly a loser mentality about this group. Coming from cuse Warrick is a guy thats going to expect to win everytime the buzzer sounds. We need that. He's a guy thats work his ass off every year to improve his game and his #s show. He's played BIG in pressure games, when its lose or go home. He's a tough defender, he attacks the basket, he's got a nice mid range game to go with his moves around the basket. He's got a REAL post game, unlike our current SF who's post game consists of jumping higher than his defender and flicking the ball at the basket.
Best of all he fits into a style of play. He can play 3-4.

It may not be the sexiest pick but he's player thats tough. That plays with a chip on his shoulder. That comes from a winning environment. Thats shown he's dedicated to improving his game and has a tremendous work ethic.

I hate to see the Knicks outsmart themselves. Instead of trying to hit a homer with the bases loaded sometimes a double gets the job done just as nicely.
Anyone else notice where the defender's mouth is in that first picture?

Fishmike with the keen eye was talking up Warrick...in April.
We need to hire fishmike as our lead scout for the NY Knicks.

OK, where does Hakim Warrick play? SF? He's really a PF. Can he defend quick SF's? Can hit a mid-range jumper consistently?

I don't think Warrick is a good fit. When you have Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford as your backcourt, you need your SF to have range offensively and be a demon defensively. I don't see Warrick doing either one. I rather go with Danny Granger.

that's one of the most famous NCAA tournie dunks in recent years. the guy wearing Warrick's jock on his face was actually on the Hawks last year.

no.. Briggs and some of the other guys have forgotten more about CBB and prospects than I know now. I like Warrick because I have seen him and been watching him for a couple years. I'm sure other guys have players they like more and I'm always learning about players I know very little about. Thats one of the good things about this board.

My thing with Warrick is I think he's a no lose pick. Will someone be picked after him thats much better? Probably, thats almost always the case. But there will also be players picked ahead of him that are busts. I think some of these draft projections that pick him in the 20s are total BS. When he gets in workouts and starts showing teams how good he is and how hard he works his stock will soar.

I wonder if Zeke gave him a promise to keep him from working with other teams.

I have a weird feeling Hodge and Warrick are the guys Zeke wants and he's going to focus mostly on the coaching search for the next two months.

Where do you see Hakim Warrick playing? PF? SF? To me, he looks like Kenyon Martin in Jamal Crawford's body. :/

i said it last year & i'll say it again this year...Warrick is Isiah's type of player & fits perfectly w/the vision he has for this team...i would be ecstatic if he drafted him this year (unless a like Green was available of course)

What is the vision? Is the plan to have Hakim Warrick at PF and play like the Phoenix Suns?

that's what Isiah's been saying since he got here...that he wanted a young, athletic group of players that play multiple positions (a-la the Phoenix Suns)...it would be nice to see him make some actual MOVES to ACHIEVE that plan, wouldn't it?
