Here is my knee 11 days after surgery.

Dude.....the pain the first few days was horrific. Geez man I'm on Vicodin....I had to take 2 every 4 hours just to function.....the pain gave me a fever and i would break out in cold sweats. Geez louis. If I was a horse I would have been taken out back and shot by now.

I still get the cold sweats from the pain but my home rehab has been picking up. It's tough though. I'm down to taking one Vicodin maybe once a day depending on the stress of the day.

I went outside twice. I haven't had the courage to go out too far. Still when I get home I'm tired beyond belief and I break out in those darn cold sweats.

It's been rough fellas. I went out yesturday to get some batteries just to finally take some pics. It will be 2 months in a few days since I initially hurt myself.

Whoa - that's intense. Nice picture too.

I know exactly what you mean about not venturing too far - this city's a whole different place when you're on crutches and you can't take things on your own terms.

Keep with it. Here's some motivation forr you - my wife had knee surgery in November and had a rough go of recovery and rehab, and this Friday night we were out dancing till 1.30.

A little added cheer - the bum Nets just got swept!

The average person is able to walk alone in about a month or so....It's already been 11 days. My spirits are good.

Just a side note.....my knee was twice that size when I got home after surgery.

Also those s.o.b.'s just gave me a cane! When I'm outside I feel like one of those old people who look cold, lost, and exausted.

My goal is to be able to grab the rim again on my own strength. I'll definately take a pic of that but that supposedly won't come until January the earliest. I will do it.....I'm motivated to work out. I can't wait till I'm able to go ot the gym and work on the machines.

I'll keep you guys posted on how my rehab is going. Then we all will really know how hard these atheletes work just to get back to playing basketball. It's hell just to take a shower right now.

Just an update....

It's 3 weeks as of today since the surgery and I am down to taking my Vicodin only if I over work my leg too much in one day. I haven't taken a pill in 3 days so it's getting better.

My knee feels wobbly still and creaky like a rusty fence. I'm totally off the brace now, but still walking like I broke out a oldfolks home.

Besides the isometric stuff they told me to do, I've started to try to do calf raises and half squats. Tomorrow I'm gonna try riding a stationary bike....I'll do as much as I can just so I can get ready for my physical therapy which starts next week.

I feel like a retard because I'm basically learning how to use my leg all over again......

According to my doctor and whatever I read about ACL tears, I should be able to play ball with no problem in about 8 more months. In NBA terms I'll be able to play just before the all-star break. So I'll be ready to make that playoff push!

Glad to hear that you're getting better.

Just wondering--did you have a full or a partial tear? A player on my intramural team just partially tore his ACL and has an appointment with a surgeon.

I fully tore my left ACL.

The doc said I might have been walking around with a partial tear for a while since I told him my knee was swelling everyday for no reason with cronic pain. I just thought it was me being out of shape and having arthritis or something. I never thought it could have been a ACL tear.
