I tried to take most of the young guys in the league that Ariza will be going up against throughout his career.

I do agree that Ariza has the biggest upside because he is suceeding right now off of intinct and his rubbery legs.

Just using all those young guys as an example you can put a shelf life on where Ariza should be ready to compete every night against them as a starter. I say the Knicks have 2 more seasons before he is ready.

So what do the Knicks do in the meantime? They need some real championship depth. Waiting for one player to reach his potential is a terrible way to run a franchise. Once that injury bug shows it's head the whole season is shot.

yea I see your point, but this is what the knicks must do. Ariza will now have a year under his belt in the NBA, sweetney is starting to establish himself somewhat, now we need to see what butler can do and draft well, mix those guys in with craw and marbs and we should be on the road to really having a good team in a couple of years. This mess was not created in one season and will not be completely fixed in one season either. Injuries are part of the game, knicks fans should know this, but we need to obtain enough quality players to hold the fort while the injury bug rears it's ugly head...

I agree....the 2-4 years left on Houston, Mo Taylor, KT, Rose, and JYD's contracts suck. Thos contracts can't be over looked.

Timmy and Penny also provide problems. If Isiah plays it safe he asks Dolan to buy both players out. Isiah hasn't played anything safe since he was born.

That's why rebuilding takes a few seasons. You stockpile a few guys that have ability and hope that enough pan out for you to rebuild upon. The Knicks dont have just Ariza. Sweetney and Marbury (and Crawford) are still young. They have 4 picks in two years. If they get 1 good starter, and 1 or 2 good role guys, they could have the makings of a good team in a couple of years. There is no "meantime" in rebuilding. In the meantime you wait.

As for Ariza, he already has all the things that everyone wished Tim Thomas would develop. A fantastic rebounding skill. Good defense (although I think he need improvement here as well - but it should come in time). Ariza just needs some of Thomas' skills - shooting, post up game, beating people off the dribble. For next year I'll take the ability to nail the open shot.

We need an accurate shooter and a white man in our lineup

Sorry we are at our one white man limit of Sundov.

As for Ariza being ready to start or not, I'd rather play him then T.Thomas.

Assuming Tim and Penny are gone next year I would like to see a rotation of Marbury, Crawford, Ariza with at least a dual position player playing either SG/SF or PG/SG/SF positions.

I think if we add a player like this with some real defense we can either play Crawford for offense or this player for defense. I think Artest would be a perfect fit.

Man... Marbury, Crawford, Artest, Ariza... that would be the snip snap shizzle snit.
