You dont bring in someone like him as the foundation for a team and thats what Isiah would be trying to sell to Knick fans.

i wonder how Indiana fans feel about Isiah's encouraging of Donnie Walsh to go after Jermaine O'Neal after his 4th year in the NBA now that he's developed into a superstar for that team?

Yeah but I don't think Jermaine had all the PT his first 4 years that Kwame's had in his 3. I don't remember poeople saying Jermaine had poor work habits or low BB IQ or was too much of a p***y. They assumed he was a bust because he didn't play but not because he had the chances like Kwame and came up lacking for them.

it's natural that Kwame's going to have expectations around him...he was a #1 overall pick afterall...i'm pretty sure JO would have had the same said about him if not worse had he been taken #1...that doesn't mean you should give up on this kid...he's obviously got tremendous talent to have been taken that high...someone just needs to teach him how to grow into the player he can be...i think Michael Jordan really screwed up this kid's head.

I'd take a chance on Kwame. But I would only give the Wizards Kurt straight up for him. No need to include picks, he's been a mess for them and is geting booed out of the building. And their GM is Ernie Grunfeld, the guy who originally signed Kurt to the Knicks, so they should be very interested in him.

if not Kwame, maybe they'd consider trading Etan Thomas & Jared Jefferies to us for KT & the #30 pick? i'd do that deal too if Grunfeld were interested.

I agree that Michael Jordan might have a lot to do with Kwame underachieving, but TMS... If the fans of Washington are gonna be impatient with Kwame, how the hell do you think the majority of Knick fans will react? I think he could develop into a very good player, but not in NY b/c A TON of pressure is gonna be placed on him. This is the last thing the guy needs.

i think it's like someone else already said...WAS fans expect a TON outta him because they used up a #1 overall pick to get him...it would all depend on what the Knicks gave up to get Kwame if a deal were to happen...would anyone really expect him to be a superstar right away if they only gave up KT & a 1st rounder?

problem is, some new york fans have Sweetney pencilled in for 20 and 10 next year and Ariza with 15ppg, 8rpg and 2spg. we have high expectations too, very high. I can't imagine what people would want from Kwame coming in at 7 feet, former #1 overall, coming for Kurt and the lotto after the most disappointing season since before Ewing arrived (in terms of, no excuses, no injuries, we just sucked when we all thought we could win the division.).

The pressure might crush Kwame. But I think I'm willing to try at this point. It's tempting. If it goes wrong, though, it sets the franchise back another 3-5 years.

sure, it's a risk...just like taking any player w/that lottery pick could turn out to be a disaster too...i'd take the chance if we don't win a top 3 pick

Kwame and Darko justify an age limit? Dude, what percentage of the players in the league who such as badly as those two are young? Not many. In fact, a high percentage of the league's most dynamic players made the jump. If anything, the league should put a limit on hyped up european big men.

The blue chip players that make the jump are destined to be stars anyway! I think as a business decision the NBA needs to cultivate more ready made talent. Darko would have been tested and Detroit might have better used that pick. Trevor could have really moved up and helped himself by staying another year.

Lebron, KG, T-Mac, Kobe Etc were going to be stars anyway. Bad teams that draft high feel like they have to take many of these kids, but the fact is they generally need a few years unitl they make an impact. KG, Kobe, and especially Jermain needed more seasoning. Curry, Tyson, are just coming into their own after 3 years. The bulls now have to make a big commitment on a 21 year old whom they are not sure about. If they were just 23, they might be able to make a better business decison.

Shuan livingston was a boy playing with these guys! He has skills, but was clearly undersized. Telfair, also! One year of school!

Carmello, Deng are great examples of players who could have jumped, but proved on a larger stage that they are more ready. They were still very young! Lots of upside still! But they are less of a gamble than a kid straight out.

I am looking at the business aspect, and the quality of the game.
I totally agree with you!

I really think we're better off developing Splitter, Taft or Frye.
Splitter will never flourish in NY. Taft scares me in a NY situation. I think Taft is worst off than Kwame Brown. I can see him being Mr. Potential all of his career.
Isn't part of Brown's problem is his physical limitations. He has small hands for a big man like Ewing but he doesn't have the gonads or will to overcome his limitations. He doesn't look to dominate at all like J O'Neal who was bursting to get out Portland to show the world what he could do. Still if the Wizards are willing to trade him straight up for Mo Taylor I would do it.

Kwame's garbage. Mo is actually an underrated player - he has enough game to be a good 6th man - he's a microwave.

Small hands usually mean good shooting, if they develop it. Ewing proved that. It is typically hard for guys with big hands to develop into good shooters. I think J. O'neal could be the kind of player Kwame could develop into. Even if he isn't as good, if he comes close, thats still heads and shoulders above anthing we have right now. If he plays like Big Z thats still heads and shoulders above wht he has right now.

He is essential a 4 right. Well, will he be a better shooter than KT. Do we really need another spot up jump shooting PF. He is agile but he can't take advantage because he looses the ball (alot). The same problem Ewing had but Ewing adjusted into a very strong post player with a drop step move which became legendary. Let me know when Brown ever thinks about developing one.

okay so lets wait until he thinks about it, or actually does and then try and get him then. Thats just not smart, you have to take risks, if he was actually doing it, we would have 0 chance of getting him in the first place. The uncertainty is what makes him available. If he develops a nice jumper we have a quick, agile 6-11 PF. Throw another 6-11 and taller, athletic big alongside him and we have a better frontcourt than what we are presently working with (gadzuric for example). It could be a step in the right direction. He could turn out to be nothing. No one knows, but we do know he is 23, he has a potential that is higher than most bigs in his age group (in the draft or in the league), and KT is not a piece on our squad that helps us in a serious way.

For what it is worth, I would give Kwame a chance only if we would only trade Kurt Thomas for him. However, that will not be the case. If Washington is willing to give us JJ and Kwame for a combo of Kurt and Sweetney, I would jump at that opportunity in a heart beat. JJ is exactly what TT is not. He is long as TT, but plays better D and has a knack for rebounds. This kid is so versatile, he has been compared to Scottie Pippen. He can handle the rock and has great court vision. I don't know if Washington will be willing to trade those two young guys for Sweetney and Kurt.......
