1 draft position could mean all the difference between getting a Dwayne Wade over a Chris Kaman, or an Andre Iguodala over a Luke Jackson fellas...let's not discount the importance of getting as good a lottery position as possible... of course, it can happen the other way as well, but at least w/better draft positioning you have the choice rather than having to pick from what's left.

How about we have a MUCH MUCH better chance at winning the lotto if we have the 5th seed, as opposed to having 9th seed.

I too agree that you play to win, and I agree Herb is doing the best he can. Heck, I'll even go as far as saying that I don't want any players who play to lose, even now. But what is the point in not playing Butler, Ariza and yes, Sundov? Sweetney should be playing 35 minutes a night right now. And I can't kill Herb for this either. He's been with the Knicks for over a decade now, and all this time, they rarely if ever played the rookies in almost any kind of situation except garbage. Then you get Lenny who did play them (And yet, we called for his head?). I think this falls on Isiahs shoulders like I said in my original post. If he's just not calling Herb up to prove his "I don't hog the spotlight point" then he should be fired. How are we ever gonna know if we're not going to even trust them in meaningless games? Ariza should be playing 25 minutes a game at this point. Maybe more. Butler should be hitting the 15 minute mark. I guess I am speaking out of my ars right now though and don't have a grip though, since according to rvross, I never played sports and I'm an embarrassment. LOL

I agree with most of you and I also agree with Herb Williams. I'm also reminded of a now famous clip from a certain Jets coach, whom we all know in a post game interview.

"You PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!"

Do you think the Chris Mullin is telling the Warriors not to win since its messing up their draft status? If he didn't want to win then he'd be telling that Mike Montgomery to take Baron out of everygame at halftime. I know its rough but I dont think this onus falls on Isiah either, I think this comes directly from uptop and Mr.Dolan. We all know how he feels about his team being worse the mediocre, which is what they are now and he'll talk all the wins he can to get people to come to the Garden, no matter how many games are left.

GOlden state plays to win cuz they have a roste that needs to finish on a good note feeling good about itself.

This years draft has very few clear cut picks. Off season self esteem is important for GS, but not our guys.

NO reason Marbs plays as many minutes as he does. None, not even to win.

No reason TT gets a uniform. Sweets plays until he gets rid of the reach in foul with those long arms.

Play to win, but play for the future!

Isiah knows who he wants to coach already, Herb gets the nod if Isiah can't get whom he wants. 3-4 names gotta be on the list.

All coaches root for the other to stick. 24 coach changes in two years! They stick together!

I like Herb. I like Phil and Flip better. I want Marbs to really buy into the next coach. Lets see what he really has in his gut!

i have absolutely nothing negative to say about herb. ZERO. nothing but positives for him. it all comes down to isiah. if isiah mandates herb to play ariza/sweetney/butler 30+ mins, then herb will do it. isiah, for the most part, has let herb coach like he wants. in some lights, that may seem commendable, but not in our case. this is a situation where CLEARLY the GM needs to step in and tell herb what rotation to play. herb will still have a job here next season if he wants it, either in the front office or on the bench, but this has to come from isiah.
This is confusing. Isiah gets kill by the media for interfering with Lenny last season. Isiah stays out of Lenny's way this season and we all know what happened. Isiah vows to the media and to Herb Williams to stay out of his way for the remainder of this season which by the way has turned out to be roughly a little less than 2/3s of the season. He lets the world know that Herb is not just an interim coach but also a serious consideration for head coach after the press kills him for not backing Herb when the Phil Jackson rumors hit the press.
After hearing this all the papers proclaim it is Herb's job to lose now. Everyone jumps on the Herb bandwagon and just start killing Lenny Wilkens, after the Knicks play better for a short period. They go on a long losing streak then its the players' fault. Then its back to being Isiah's fault. Now that they are out the playoffs and young guys are not playing, and Marbury is getting long minutes, its now Isiah and Marbury's fault.

is isiah's job supposed to cater to the media or help build this organization for the future? season is absolutely over. we can all see how the players are playing hard for herb. not one bad word about him. players applauding him. nothing is going to change from now till the end of the season. nothing is going to happen to herb's rep. that's why isiah should step in here and do what the right thing is for the organization.

i for one, NEVER killed lenny, and never killed herb. i also never really killed chaney. it's all about the players and talent level here. that's why i'm down on zeke and his decisions for the future of this franchise. what's taking so long to play the rookies? it comes from him.
