Those two words make the difference between an extemely arrogant and incorrect statement and one that is not very arrogant and True. Anyone who wasn't a Knick fan could see that - as can most Knick fans as the posts here show.

I give Marbury the benefit of the doubt because I just think he's a really stupid person. He problably thought he was saying the right thing by showing confidence. He really shouldn't be around the NY media!

LMAO. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed. You might be right. He probably thought everyone would love what he said. Not very smart.

I don't know if "anyone who wasn't a knick fan could see that" was directed at me. But all I was saying was its crazy how big a difference those 2 words make. Nothing more nothing less.

Marbury comments were bad. But it still didn't warrent the type of beating he took through the media for like 3months straight.

Marbury's comment was a dumb one, but people also love to pick on Marbury more than any other star whose team is bad. Ws are what matter in the end. If he can make it to the finals at least once in his career, he'll be called a winner and probably be a hall-of-famer. (A conference finals might even be enough; I think that's all Dominque ever achieved and he's an HOFer.)

I don't think Marbury has been killed that much, and the criticism he has recieved by some has been fair. And I say that b/c I have not once heard the boos directed towards him, at the Knicks game. Nor should they be. The criticism towards him has been nowhere near as bad as what Patrick Ewing and Allan Houston have recieved in the past.

I don't think it's Marbury's fault that the team is as bad as it is. As a matter of fact, I think all of us were just shrugging it off at the time, b/c we were at our highest point that season, being 3 games above .500. When you're winning, it's OK, as long as you back it up. Which he has. But if the team is losing, keep your mouth shut, b/c everyone including himself, is accountable.

Seriously though - Yes the media over did it. But it wasn't a surprise to me and it shouldn't have been to Marbury either.

Marbury has never been the most media savy dood on the team. I remember a couple of quotes that he made:

I remember when he got traded to NJ, he said even though it comparable to the Garden because it was just across the river.

I remember when he hit his head on Jayson WIlliams knee and his moms came running out on the court to check on him (I'm sorry, I still laugh at that). He did say something that I remember was very stupid after that but I can't remember what it was, but all I remember thinking was boy everytime this guys opens his mouth he says stuff that a drunk mentally handicapped person wouldn't say.
