Too early to step down, IMHO. If he did, I think he would get a lot of scrutiny. I can't see him voluntarily stepping down with the draft picks he has coming up. So, the only way this is possible is if he's being fired by Dolan. Otherwise, if this is of his own will, he'd be severely letting down the fans, IMHO. Even if we don't agree with every move he makes, he's given us hope for this team. Let us at least get one more year, see what draft picks we get and see how the team looks then, with an array of young talent, before he decides to step down.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

first of all, this is a wild rumor that probably isn't true. if isaih wasn't going to europe and was still quiet like he has been the last few weeks, then we should worry. second, as far as phil jax goes, we can still technically hire phil as the coach and gm. isaih is president of basketball operations. he is not the gm. the acting gm is still, if i am not mistaken, steve mills. so we can offer phil both positions without getting rid of thomas. well, it doesn't matter. the one rumor i heard which COULD happen is that cleveland will fire paxson to get phil jackson for coach and gm. i think coaching and building a team around lebron could be more entincing that a team with marbury as the centerpiece, a player phil supposedly do not like.

as far as i know, the reason Phil is interested in coaching the Knicks is because he wants to come back to MSG...i think if Dolan offers him the position of President, GM & head coach, he'd accept...but again, Isiah has unfinished binness here...let him finish what he started...if by the trading deadline next year this team is still in its duldrums, then Dolan will need to seriously consider firing Isiah & bringing Phil in, unless by then Pat Riley has a change of heart & wants to come back to finish what he started back in the early 90's.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I don't think phil (after reading his two books) would want the GM job. I think Coach input of players wanted is very important for any coach, yet alone big chief triangle.

BUt PHil likes his month long vacations, and I don't think he wants a bigger role than any he has ever had prvioulsy. IF he comes back, he does to coach, but infuluence his roster. All big coaches want this!

The GM/Coach combo thing is not really done anymore. I think Popovich still does it and riley was doing it until he hired Randy Pfund a few years back to help him big time..

PHil to knix is very doable!
