Are you aware of Baron Davis' bad back???? He is a very expensive dude who is disgruntled of the organization that he played for...They had to get rid of him...It wasn't the case with Marburry....You can't compare the two... That's what I don't like about most Knicks fans, you are all so quick to judge, and most often failed to see the real picture....

I still maintain we we gave up too much. GS just got Baron Davis for Dale Davis and Speedy Claxton. I dont think they gave up any draft picks either.

The real picture is we gave up too much. I know about Davis' injury, but they got him for a player that was waived and a backup PG. We took on the worst contract in the NBA (Penny's), gave up millions in expiring contracts, 2 first round draft picks, and Lampe/Vujanic (who could be nothing, but still had some trade value). The big picture was that was a lot to give up. I'm not upset with the trade...Marbury's done all he could. But if you're looking farther ahead you probably would try to split your assets and pick up some pieces, rather than buy a bandage for half a season. It worked for us to get to the playoffs. It could still work down the line.

Powel on Marbury:
Here's what he has done: alienated some teammates, enhanced his reputation as a point guard who can't make his team better, and like most Knicks, eaten lots of salary-cap space.

Now which of these isnt true? He doesnt have wins to fall back on and his defense is bad... REALLY bad.

He doesn't have wins to fall back on? Long-term memory problems again Fish? Did you not see the difference in team record with vs without Marbury last year? This year the team has lost games for reasons beyond Marbury's control.

Now you're just wearing Rose Colored glasses when it comes to him. Last year means nothing to me. This year, we have just as much talent, if not more with a developing Sweetney, Ariza, and Crawford. I think we have it just as easy as last season, even though last season wasn't close to easy. Point is, Marbury is a very good player. But he's got TONS of flaws. He may very well never be a good defender. His defense has Allan Houston written all over it. Marbury has NOT been the savior of NY. New York has not had a savior since Patrick Ewing. Isiah brought in Marbury thinking he could be the savior. But truth is, he is an all star calibre player, who SOMETIMES lifts the team up. Marbury has talent to work with this year. He meshed decently at first, but suddenly, things went rockbottom.

He's had a very good season and has been the lone bright spot. But he's not freaking God, nor the best PG in the league. And he may very well not be the type of player you want to build a franchise around, anymore, b/c of his age. If you can use him in a trade, then go ahead.

Amazing, same article, and we always fall for the bait.

Hindsight given, Isiah sucked. He tried, which is his job, but in reality he overpaid for a desired salary dump! Phoenix took us good!

since we are rebuilding now, we could have been much further along if we did not take on that trade.

He was seduced by a big trade and took the bait to make a big spash! IT was all so good then, but despite his efforts and hype, the team he constructed was flawed. THis is indisputable. He took on a ton of salary, this is indisputable. He failed to understand the inability for some personalities to change and buy into a system bigger than themselves. The team is better than the layden days, and we all have that to chew on, but what really has been acomplished?

But that is subjective,as was the article. It was a fair "what if" and its ok in my book to write such things. Isiah makes a nice salary and is a public figure. At this point, he has made very ambitious moves but does not have cap flex, a stable of young blue chip players (its improving though), nor an improved win/loss record, or one that justifies the spending!

Its a work in progress, but the reality is what it is, even if we don't like it! If he left things and tweaked it some, we would be futher along in our rebuilding, and have greater financial freedom.
Its all theory anyway!

This year we don't have just as much talent. We have a starting SF giving 4 less PPG and 1.5 less RPG. (Or basically we went from having an average starting SF to having one of the bottom 3 or 4. That alone makes a huge difference.) It's silly to say last year means nothing. If you're trying to evaluate a player, you need to take in all available information, which would obviously include last year.

No, Marbury's not god. Yes, he has flaws. Yes, you trade him if it's a move that helps the team. These are undisputed statements that I don't know why you'd even bring up.
