Look familiar?

Yeah man that park has since seen a nice refacing.....they have 2 full courts now and the courts have that special "not concret" finish to the floor for the two full courts. I believe they put in breakaway rims on one of the courts(I'm not sure). In the summer If I felt good, I used to jog there from 96th street and then shoot around. The games there are still good on the weekend. Alot of good players come to play. I've seen some West 4th street regulars up there. The park has some nice history. I played full court there twice and got a good workout. You'd be suprised on the diversity of players that come out.

The park I'm talking about is further downtown.....actually its across the next busy intersection and down the hill toward those stone steps going towards the water. The court is to the left right under the highway. There are some hand ball courts there too. The park is nice.......it's part of the redevelopment of the westside. Check it out.

Damn, wish I were up there to see the improvements! You are right about the diversity there Enyspree,I met people from all five boroughs, even tourists from Europe occasionaly.

If you dont already Id get this for your knee.I got one for my ankle and it really helps.Cools your knee without risking nerve damage from direct pressure from ice packs and like I said try not to come back too soon.

EnvySpree, I am sorry to hear about your misfortune and hope you recover quickly and fully.

I know Riverside Park. It's about 2 blocks down from where my dad lives. When I was a little kid, I used to go there a lot (When I visited him and my step mom) and see peeps playing. I wasn't good at all at the time, so I wouldn't dare go down there, but it was still cool to watch.

Yo Eny - get better man. Sorry to hear about the injury.

As far as the getting cats together to play ball - I'm all for it. I'd show up for sure. In fact, does anyone here play in any NYC leagues. We may have already played together. I've been at Basketball City for their last 2 seasons now. I'm gonna in the NYCBL league next season (championship gets played on the MSG court). While I'm talking leagues - if cats are serious, we should try to field a team in a league. I'm getting way too ahead of myself, but I would imagine there has to be some solid ballers on the board, no?

I'd come up to RIverside to meet you guys in a second. My own playing career was forced into permanent retirement in the 80's due to repeated stress fractures of the feet and worse yet, repeated deep bruising of the ego. however I could lend support in the form of sneaking liquor onto the court and and offering nonstop heckling of you guys.

oh man, that's funny.

If she goes to UAlbany, I bet she hangs out at WT's or Ralph's if under aged. Love those dives.

You talking Dive Bars right? What so special about a Dive Bar? What's the difference. I never been to one on purpose to tell you the truth.

Educate me Martin. With all the stuff I've been reading I think I might need a good place to get me a good drink.

OMG I hated SUNY ALBANY. Could the on campus food be any worse. Could it be any more segregated. Could it get any colder. Was there anyone there that didn't live either upstate or in LI?

Thank god the drugs were plentiful.

I dislocated my finger when I was a teenager. I think I was like 16. It was hanging and the girls were screaming but I just shook my hand hard and it popped back in. I was not about to loose a game against these guys from another neighborhood. To this day I can pull my finger out slightly to show the kiddies, lol.

Getting old sucks!

I'm 25 and I guess that's the age where it all falls down.

sorry to hear about your misfortune. I've been there and done that. I tore the ACL in my right knee a few years ago in a knee to knee hockey collision. And I tore the other one when I came back too soon. I decided to quit hockey as a result this year. I hope you get better. Just don't be stupid and rush your comeback. Listen to the doctors and take it step by step.

Yup, i played it to the end too!!! We still lost the game which pissed me off even more!!!!!
It still was a strange sight, looking back i would have loved to have it on pic cause it really looks ugly, even thought it didnt hurt much!!!
I hope you recover well, man!!! :-)
