at this point, would a pure PG be a better draft pick for us and move marbury to the SG with jamal being a combo backup or should we still go the SG route?

marbury puts up a ton of numbers and gets his assists as a by product of his scoring ability. but at the end of games it hasn't been working. is that a product of marbury not really being able to create for others on the iso or just a bad team philosophy and lack of prep down the stretch?

that is why we need to draft the best player available unless Bogut is there. Marbury does leave much to be desired with his decision making down the stretch.

this my friend is a complete 180 from your posts as recent as one week ago. has the 3 game winning streak changed your opinion of this team being a complete MESS?

there's A LONG way to go. we'll see what happens draft night, whether we keep those picks or not. i think the only way we can look at it is being optimistic with ALOT of caution.

the team has changed quite a bit and is in position to change even more. I mean read my post, I think we have little to no chance that we make the playoffs- i know we played teams that were on the B-B and or short, i know that TT and mS arent going to be putting up monster numbers like that every night.

A lot of us had confidence in Isiah from the beginning. That's why we didn't do the 180 djs was talking about. But I always welcome it when a critic is willing to re-evaluate with an open mind.

i just wanted to know why he was more optimistic now than his usual "mess" posts from before. he knows his bball so i was genuninely interested in hearing it. that's all. nothing was meant sarcastically or in a negative light.

I think comparing it to the Seattle situation is a good comparison. The Knicks do have a lot of bulls inside now to push people around. Mo is not a great rebounder or defender but he's like a souped up version of Harrington in that he's a big body who can push people around in the paint and score in bunches. But guys like Sweets, Rose, Thomas, JYD, they aren't afraid to mix it up and board.

We also had a lot of good balance on the frontline last night. Sweets can dominate less athletic centers like Mihm in the post and Timmy can dominate smaller SF's in the post. Tim did a good job of that last year when he was going well, but couldn't get established this year. Last night was really a coming out party for his post play, and hopefully the Knicks can continue to to take advantage of that. I think the Lakers were dumb early on to put Odom on Kurt because we were just killing them in the post, while Odom, their best frountcourt defender was going outside to guard KT and his jumper...

Anyway its going to be interesting to see if the Knicks go with a true rotation of guys and how they can divy up the minutes. You've got two high energy PF's in Williams and Rose that can guard a lot of positions and board. You've got two post guys in Sweetney and Taylor and one really good shooter/ defender-rebounder in Kurt. Tim also played a lot of 4 yesterday and he can cause a lot of mismatches with his athleticism if he continues to stay agressive offensively. The Knicks can really mix and match based on matchups now and basically keep the guys fresh and tell all of them to go all out if they can figure out how to rotate the minutes....

there is definatly some nice versatility also. JYD and Rose can play stretches at all 3 frontcourt positions. Most of these combos will live and die by the guard play. Despite some bad shooting nights Crawford and Marbury have combined for some VERY nice assist to TO nights. If those two can push the ball and penetrate and make things easy for the bigs on offense it looks pretty good. Another shooter could really help also. We have some very wide bodies and that means setting good screens. Getting another shooter/combo guard with some good PG type skills would help. Good to see Isiah mention that.

Seattle is a good example and the difference is TT, plain and simple. Sorry to make him a scapegoat but when we were playing at a high level last year he was giving you 16/5 and shooting around 47-48%. When you have his inside outside game along with a pair of combp guards with nice skills in Marbury and Crawford along with and "offensive line" up front you can win some games. How man? Seattle is showing they arent just a hot start.

That's how I interpreted it. Everyone's allowed to change their opinion. It doesn't mean you're criticizing the poster

Tim Thomas played fine last year, but we weren't playing a a truely high level. We got swept on that road trip and lost a ton of games. Yes, you can blame the mess and all the changes. But I hear a lot of people who said we were close to being the beasts at the end of last season, but they fail to remember that our DEFENSE was still piss poor.
