"I'm getting sick of us being undersized at every position except SF."

Solace - is Amare Stoudamire undersized at center?

Either you can play or ou can't

Get over your conventional notions of what basketball players are.

Especially thoses you've NEVER watched play.

Its real simple

Best five play.

Besides, Jackie Butler reminds me more of Rick Mahorn in the photo

You know, the cat Isiah played with

Amare Stoudamire is undersized at center, yes. However, Phoenix runs a different style of play. We'll see if it works in the playoffs.

But Jackie Butler vs. Amare Stoudamire. Well, if Jackie Butler is even close to as talented as Amare Stoudamire, I won't mind his size. The problem is that he has just "that much more" to overcome in order to do it. It's that simple. I never said he wasn't capable.

At least we know Isiah has his eyes open looking everywhere for talent.....

To sign a 19 year old out of no where for the rest of the season says alot.

Bottom line is the kid has to play first. None of us have seen him play unless someone lives near his team and is bored enough to follow the CBA. The CBA is a league of NBA rejects, and outcasts......they have alot of NBA ready talent but there is a reason why these guys are in this minor league of sorts.......

Elton Brand has a 7'5 wingspan.. he's a VERY long player.

Solace is right in that we dont have ANY size that impacts the game really at any position. There was a time where Houston would kill anyone guarding him under 6'4 shooting that midrange jumper right over him. LJ used to abuse smaller SFs in the post, Camby played above the rim.

His point (and its a good one) is we dont have anyone with size that forces the other team to adjust. TT would qualify if he didnt play like a chick. Lisa Leslie would back him down

A low risk move that has potential for something.

Let's first look at this kid his maybe 6-9, 6-10 whatever size he is I think this kid could play the 5 or 4. If you think he can't play the 5 lets look at Big Ben and Amare Stoudamire I'm not saying he's even close to their talent but someone 6-10 can play the 5.

Now if this kid could give us some defense and rebounding I would he happy. I don't know if he is even get the time to do anything but I hope the kid can be a positive addition.

I wouldn't be surprised if we also sign Jermaine Jackson he could give us some size at backup pg.

just dive on the floor and play hard. Thing with Marbury and Crawford is they can make things so easy on big men with their penetration. If we can just play D and get bigs who play like a Larry Brown squad we might be onto something. Team ball... who knows, maybe Herb gets through

he's listed at 6'10 250 everywhere I look

Biography:
This is one of the truly elite prospects in the nation. You want size? He’s got it. Skills? Butler has them too. He’s 250+ pounds of man on the blocks. Athleticism? For a big guy he has that too. His recruitment is going to be a major tussle with a number of SEC programs and teams from the Southeast.

Nazr was 6'10'' but he played like a ***** on defense. if this guy can play any defense at all and average over a block he is worth it over Nazr

Thanks for that info Fish. I really like this signing. Man, Isiah keeps all us Knick fans on our toes thats for sure. Like everyone else, I haven't seen the guy play so I'm going to have to trust these scouting reports and from what I've seen from them the guys sounds like he has some skills. I just wonder though, with all these skills and size, whats he doing in the CBA? My guess is his attitude isn't the greatest, but not everyone is as mature as guys like Lebron and our own Trevor Ariza at age 19. Who better to whip him into shape then Isiah, right?

I never said anything about Elton Brand. I've always been a big fan of Elton.

I agree that height, itself, is not enough, but height still has a big factor, despite wingspan. First off, a larger wingspan often evens out on a shorter player. Second of all, having longer arms won't help if you can't see over the player for a clear look at the basket. Just some things to think about. It's the whole package.

Right. This is what I was trying to hit at. Right now we're looking at putting a lineup out there that might look like 6'9", 6'8", 6'8", 6'5", 6'1" (Kurt, Sweetney, Ariza, Crawford, Marbury) while a big team like Dallas could put out 6'11", 7', 6'10", 6'7", 6'3" (Dampier, Nowitzki, Keith Van Horn, Michael Finley, Jason Terry), for example. We need to have advantages at some positions. No team wins being undersized or average sized at ever position. So, it is a consideration.

Now certainly, this guy is better than any PF we're going to play at C, so sure, why not? I think it's a nice pickup, I just think sooner or later, we'll have to address the overall size issue.
TT would qualify if he didnt play like a chick. Lisa Leslie would back him down

So true. Gotta love TT. I bet Lisa Leslie (6'6") would take TT in a game. She is the lady Shaq, though, right?

Sounds promising. I'm willing to think that this signing might be a good one. But, I want to see him play first. I hope he gets put on the active roster quickly.

Ok. Thanks for the correction.

So technically the Knicks have another roster spot....I'm not really sure how many players teams are aloud to have....Isiah traded 4 players for 2 and just signed Jackie Butler so I would assume Isiah can get another player.....maybe this is why Isiah made the Mo Taylor trade to get the roster spots.

I wonder what's next?

You gusy are too funny.

Solace gets flack for saying that the kid might not be anything, and that is jumping to conclusions.

You guys, who also never saw him play, claim he is the next Brand/Amare/Sweetney, blah, blah, blah.

Man, IT is so good for picking up some guy from the CBA. He must have had to beat like 35 teams to do that considering college teams would be after this awesome talent as well.

And man his pics, you are all ready to gizz all over them, this is just too funny.

Next thing you know IT will get WNBA player and you will all proclaim that this is a genius move.

If IT asks you to bend over will do that w/out a moment's thought either?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

NBA teams can have a maximum of 15 players - 12 active and 3 on the IL. The 3 IL spots must be occupied by players with legitimate injuries, although the league has been very lax on this in recent years
