You'd have to give up 2 first rounders to get a superstar at Marbury's level, but probably not to get a lower level star like maybe Artest, Brand, Pierce, Zach, or someone else. I bet at least one of them will be available for one 1st round pick, either Jamal or Sweetney (I'd give up Sweetney for Brand or Zach; Jamal for Pierce or Artest), if we take back a "Penny Hardaway" type of contract and give up expiring contracts. Depending on how good a star I'd get in return, I'd alter what I was willing to give up and take back. I'd rank those players as

Artest and Brand tied
Zach
Pierce
Then below them are C Webb, Walker, and Abdur-Rahim (in that order)

It depends on how high the lottery pick is. If it's around 8 and you're getting a guy like Igoudala, then I'd have no problem trading him for Brand. If it's around 3 or 4 and you can get a guy like Bosh or Wade, then keep the pick.

Knick fans probably don't want to hear it, but Isiah Thomas is saying it: the Knicks are in for a long ... slow ... tedious rebuilding process.

Actually, that is exactly what many fans want to hear.
