the whole point of that trade was taking a year off the KVH deal (TT's contract is a year shorter)

i just gave you the figures on the remaining money on both deals...TT has $3 million less left on his contract than KVH...where is this extra year of salary you keep talking about?

the trade was a complete wash imho.

KVH at least played like a 6'10 player w/ his 8 rebs and high FG%. TT's play this year has been so bad its hard to imagine. I cant picture being this bad unless your actually doing it unpurpose.

alright so KVH has a little more value than TT but we also got Nazr who know has some value since he's averaging 12 & 9

KVH allways had more value than Tim Thomas and allways will. But if you trade Tim Thomas & you trade KVH you get back basically the same players. If you trade Muhammad & you trade Doleac then you get way more value back with Muhammad than with Doleac.

Package Tim Thomas & Muhammad and you get more value back than you would if you packaged KVH & Doleac. I was thinking last offseason that Kurt Thomas & Muhammad were going to get packaged to upgrade the frontcourt. I thought that was the plan for Dampier.

dampier's not having all that great a season anyway...maybe the Knicks did well not to trade for him?

what do you think we can get back for Nazr right now? he's having a good year for him, but i don't get the sense that there are teams knocking down our door to get him...you definitely get back more for him than Doleac, obviously if you find a taker, but the demand just doesn't seem to be there.

it's like you have a baseball card that's worth alot, but if no one wants to buy it it's pretty much worthless.

Dallas uptempo run run run style isn't the best style for Dampier. He only plays 27mins and puts up 8-8-1.4blks which probably due to getting tired from the constant running. He would play like 38mins for us and probably would have the 12-12-2. I don't like how long his contract is for though. He would be solid for us though. Provide good low post man to man defense as well as help defense & size. Sweetney & JYD probably would be able to do more damage along side of him.

A team that has a stud 4 would love to have Narz. Like the Spurs or Timberwolves, Raptors. Utah would probably love to have a 1-2 combo with Okur & Muhammad off the bench. But the best we could probably land is a draft pick or Kwame Brown?? if we add extra incentives.

thats why we should've trade Nazr and Kurt when they were hot.

Nazr was averaging 13pts/9.5rebs
Kurt was averaging 11pts/11rebs

now their numbers are going down drastically especially Nazr

Nazr will have good value this offseason if we want to make any kind of trade for a frontcourt player. I keep pointing to Swift. you get an uber athletic shot blocker that can run like the wind and he's buried behind Gasol and West's new lover Brian Cardinal. I think Swift is over the MLE area, but a Craford like contract would work. 6 years starting at about $6mm and ending in the $9-$10mm range. Like 6 years $48mm or so.

If get Swift and his agent sold on NY I have no doubt Memphis would rather have Nazr for one year then let Swift walk for nothing. Then you have something we havent had since Camby left, and athletic difference maker up front.

LOL, this guy has to go back to say something about KVH, who was averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds before he got hurt. that just wasnt a KVH give up, we gave up doleac and a high 2nd round pick

and so what? is nazr the future here? hs a back up C who has an occasional great game but should be bACKING UP! this is a nothing trade as of now, perhaps even a step back trade because you get the false impression that nazr is some great player.

this was no steal trade, this means nothing. and having to diss KVH is kind of stupid, since the Knicks are dropping faster to the ground than a whore who who was flashed 50$

Are you talking about this year or previous years for Van Horn's #s?

God, I can't wait for TT to be gone, then we can finally put this debate to rest.

Whether TT and Nazy or KVH and Doleac were here, they'd all be traded when their contracts expire. The point is that the expiring contracts of a 12/9 Nazy plus an 11/3 TT will get you much those of a 12/5 KVH and a 4/3 Doleac.

12 PPG, 5.8 RPG. He's barely better than TT. It looks like Nazy was the best player involved in that trade

That's because he was injured after his first 13 games of the season and has been playing somewhat limited minutes since his return.

Prior to his injury, he was scoring 18 ppg and 8.5 rpg. I'll agree, though, that judging solely by stats, he's not looking good.

Besides, why are we bragging about getting the best of a trade when we're clearly worse than last year at the same point in the season?

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

He can't brag about the Knicks record under Isiah or with Marbury anymore so he has to resort to this lame argument. It's not even worth getting into it.

The record under Isiah or with Marbury is a lot better than it was under Layden. But the long-term is what really matters and with Ariza, Jamal, and Sweetney, the long-term looks better than it did 14 months ago under Layden.

It's interesting that no one has disputed my claim that Nazy is the best player involved in this trade. I thought at least someone would claim Van Horn was better. I guess we got the best player with the best contract in this trade, a trade that used to be a huge source of criticism toward Isiah. If what matters is the long-term, then having gotten better players in this trade will put us in a better position this offseason to make further deals.

i actually thought it was fairly obvious that Van Horn was better than Nazr...didn't think i needed to comment on it.
