Bernard King played small forward. While he was fairly weak on d, he was incredible offensively. One season, he averaged 32.9 points per game. Over a twelve playoff games in 84, he averaged 34.8 points per game.

Yeah he was a small fwd so it kinda takes away from the thread.

Didn't Bernard average 40 in the playoffs against Boston?

The year he averaged 32 pts he lead the league....he should have won the MVP but of course Bird won........

hey i'm going on my memory but wan't that the year he tore his acl and only played part of the year?

Bernard King was the Greatest Knick ever....I think it's messed up that they gave up on him like that......King was an unstoppable offensive force when he was with the Knicks.

He's also my all time favorite player.

Starks, Harper, Camby, Tucker, Walker, X-Man, Mase, Oakley, Doc Rivers, Johnny Newman, Gerald Wilkins...these were some of my favorites.

Why, oh why, is Gerald Wilkens one of your favorite players?
He su-cked!

Gotta disagree man. Gerald had some crazy games. When he was on he wa a revelation. Of course he was inconsistent as hell but I loved those Pitino teams and Gerald was a dynamo on the nights he had it together.

i don't think gerald wilkens SUCKED but he did have his limits. but he played great defense and man can he dunk. probably one of the top ten best dunkers i have seen in a knicks uniform. the best shooting guard ever was monroe. he was just a winner who did it all. i thought frazier was technically a shooting guard who played point guard when they traded for monroe. if so then he would probably be the best. now my favorite sg, since i started watching the knicks in '89, has to be starks. he was'nt the best in the past 16 years ( that would probably go to sprewell or houston talent-wise) but he was 100% excitement.

Gerald was our first Gazy. TT is on, he is right as rain, but then there were the other 62 games in a season.

Gerald I was sure was a big old coke head. There was his older bro, "Dominique": Dominant! The human high light film! Dude was posterboy for the highlight, 6-7 feet of grace style, and cool. Had teh cool name, intrigue, international flair!

Then there was Gerald. Goofy ass first name, goofy ass game, could do one thing, jump. Not real high, just enough to keep him around, think maybe one day he gets a new name, and dispute the notion that Dominique got all the good genes, and Gerald got the UPS man's!
