Trade KT or Baker and a future #1 for Swift...use the MLE on Hunter or Gadzuric, draft Taft......

Hunter/Taft
Sweetney/Swift
Ariza/JYD
Crawford/?
Marbury/Brewer

Looks good to me. Not sure if we can get Taft, but if we got Hunter and Swift, I would keep Nazr or KT as a backup (I think the Grizz would only trade Swift for Nazr and a future conditional no. 1) and use the pick on a backup combo guard.

The problem with getting Camby is that's a stop gap solution. Camby has maybe two years left and he's proven in Denver that he isn't enough of a difference maker anymore to take a two year gamble on him. Getting someone like Hunter or Swift or Boone allows you to build a young team around Sweets, Ariza, Craw and Marbs that stays young and in contention for the next 5 to 6 years and beyond.

Why not trade Sundov for Shaq? I'm sure they'd go for it...

Come on, get real!!!

Who's going to take Baker?! Can't even crack our rotation.
The only thing he can crack is a 40.

that would be the lowest IQ team in the league, you dont win that way.
One or two guys that can mesh in with talent and dont have to think the game because he has others running it for him is fine. Thats why Swift would do well here. Chris Taft is over-rated, not as athletic as he is purported and is a loof. Not saying that he doesnt have a real serious upside, but he hasnt even played as well as last year.

the great thing about swift is there is NO barrier to entry. We dont need to give anything away, we simply need to be able to convince him to sign a 6 year 40mm$ contract. Here he wont have to deal with Pau gasol in front of him. I see mike sweetney as a guy who I like off the bench-is there a team willing to give Stromile more than 40$mm? well no one gave it to him last year when they couldve right??? Notice his play when he starts, hes usually very close to 20-10 and the good thing about him is he can switch to 5.

RE-READ.....

Baker is an expiring contract, that is the interest they would have in him.....

KT OR BAKER and a #1.......not just Baker....KT OR BAKER meaning there are two different versions of this trade I am suggesting.

I'll put a dampener oh the whole trading for Swift idea. Swift cannot be traded this year. Only sign-and-trade after the season. This is confirmed. Baker would not cut it, KT would.

I thought it was understood we were talking sign and trade for Stro after July 15th.

Briggs, if we can convinve Stro to take the MLE, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I think our best bet w/ Stro is to use Nazr in a sign and trade. That would allow us to pay him slightly over the MLE. Memphis gets Nazr for one year and reasonable $$$. We could also offer them cash. If Stro's agent says he will leave anyway, Memphis getting Nazr for $3mm for one year makes a lot of sense for them. It also lets us split the MLE bewteen a couple other guys. I would give Hunter an offer of 4 years at $18mm and that would allow us to use the rest on say Ariza and lock him up for the next couple years.

The backup PG I think can be addressed through the draft w/ Nate Robinson or Jarred Jack. Heck, you can always buy late picks. Alot of teams would rather have the $1-$2mm in cap space than commit 3 years to a player they dont really need. It happens for 3-4 teams every year.
