I think its true that this team is headed towards an abyss. But at the same time tanking this season wont be enough. We still need to get rid of Penny and Timmy next season to free up some space. Until then Isiah's hands are tied and no matter what free agents exist, there is no chance he can go get them. Thats what bothers me the most; Isiah hasnt screwed up the team's cap, he just inhereted it. From the beginning he knew that it would take a few years to get rid of the cap damage that was there. His ability to trade away crazy contracts like Clarence Weatherspoon's and Othella Harrington was amazing. But the really big contracts like Penny and Timmy are pretty much impossible to get rid of till next year. I honestly believe with patience and some good coaching the Knicks can be better next year, but it will be realistically two years before the Knicks can be considered a dangerous team.
