you have to compare Houston to guys who actually score.
If you compare Houston to guys who actually score/scored you will realize where he really ranks among NBA players. And dont just count those 2 years where the team missed the playoffs. Count all the years and you will see guys like Mitch Richmond and Glenn Robinson scored plenty more than Houston with a better shooting %. Mitch actually shot 50% from the field 2 years in a row!!
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

as bad a year as TT's had he's never been that good a player so its not much of a drop off. His career averages are 14pts/4rebs/43%...this year its 10pts/3rebs/40%

his career averages are 11 / 4 / 44% in 26.3 mpg...it's not that much of a drop off...he's always been an underachiever.

it's beginning to become clear that last year was the aberration & not the norm for this guy.

so in other words, Tim can average OK numbers if he's the #2 scoring option most of the year & the team he plays on is a sub .500 team... somehow that doesn't change my opinion of him in the least.

True - but Hawkins early in his career was an excellent player. The only point I'm making is Houston was a pretty good ball player - his sin was being vastly overpaid.

Yeah and Mitch Richmond at the time was considered the best guard in the league behind Jordon. Glenn Robinson if he wasn't such a screw up could have been a great player. I'm not saying Houston was the best 2 guard around I'm just saying he was good.
